Subject: Air Wingers Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge

Just a quick reminder of the rules of the challenge.

The goal of the challenge is to get 5 workouts of at minimum 30 minutes.  The workout does not have to be one straight exercise or done all at once.  What this means is as long as you get 30 minutes of exercise in the day it will count for the point.  For example, if you run for 15 minutes in the morning and lift wieghts in the evening for 25 minutes for a total of 40 minutes you have enough time to be counted.  Each workout that is successfully completed is worth a point.

The time periods that you have to complete your workouts and have them counted are Nov 8th, Nov 15th, Nov 22nd, and Nov 30th.  I will try to get a spreadsheet up to log the points in.

As a bonus you can get one extra point for any two time periods.  What this means for you is there is a total of 22 points out of 20 points total.  Yes there is a chance to get an extra 10%.  The team that gets the most points wins the challenge.

The teams are as follows:

Air Wingers

  • van paulus
  • LSU25
  • JHagerman
  • DrHammer
  • ceilidh
  • aquinn
  • otter sh
  • jaxbamf73
  • BigDH
  • sparco
  • A Little Madness
  • starrlinda
  • wildee

Take this time to get to know your teammates as it will take all of you to win the challenge.  Good luck and have fun.

Reporting for Duty

Always wanted to be an AIrman

My tri season is pretty much over so I would like to use all that cardio fitness and channel it into faster  10ks and   Half marathon's  this winter .

I am in my fourth year of doing triathlons and think its a great  way to stay fit.  Winter here in Los Angeles is the  best time to run as our weather cools down .

Starting  the month with a Half Marathon.

Plan  is to be flexible but  include (once a week)  long runs   , speed workouts , hills and   tune up races.  Also  swim and bike  once a week  for cross training and recovery.

 Dismissed

Hey hey Air Wingers! HooRah!

I'm a first season triathlete.  Winter is great for indoor training in Michigan, so this is perfect for me to change up on objectives and goals.

Here's our lineup UnODir (Unless Otherwise Directed).  All the names are already hyperlinked, so double check that I got everyone's right.

DH checking in...

Viper: In case some of you are wondering who the best is they are up here on this plaque.
[turns to Maverick]
Viper: Do you think your name will be on that plaque?
Maverick: Yes sir.
Viper: That's pretty arrogant, considering the company you're in.
Maverick: Yes sir.
Viper: I like that in a pilot runner.

so I hope none of you came in here to write checks that your body can't cash.

The rules of engagement are clear, 22 workouts each.  This rule is written for your safety and that of your team, they are not flexible, nor am I, is that clear (to paraphrase viper).

cue the music....

OK, since the teams are going to be uneven the winner for the challenge will be determined by a percentage instead of most points.  I would hate for the team with the most team members win because of the unfair advantage.

Hi folks,

Well first off, I'm going to have to get a copy of Top Gun. Looks like I'm the only one who hasn't seen it.

I'm looking forward to the workouts--burn off some of the Halloween candy that's in the house. I'll check back in tomorrow. Happy Halloween.
