I was wondering how most of you log your "alternative" riding? Do you count spin time and /or trainer time as biking in your logs? Or do you count it as "other" sports?  And what about the mileage...do you count only real road time?? Just trying to figure out how to keep track once I have to put my carbon to sleep...sniff!!

You'll find a variety of opinions and practices.  It really comes down to how you want to do it.  I personally log any time in the saddle (be it road bike, mountain bike, trainer or spin calss) as biking.  I give a rough estimate for my spin miles based on the effort of the workout and my understanding of what a 60 minute everage distance would be for me.

If I'm in the saddle, it's bike time.  I may estimate the milage, but saddle time is saddle time, IMO.

I'm on the bike on the trainer and have a rear mount sensor cyclometer and run my trainer on the hardest resistance.  It's logged just like I'd log time outside.

Oh goody..it all counts!! I am really hoping to log at least 50k of real outside riding throughout the winter, but we'll see how it goes. I'm having LBS fix up my 23 yr old beloved Bianchi to be my winter wheels.
