I'm back in Guelph after having been in London for a few years and am looking for a tri group (official or unofficial) to train with.  I had a fantastic experience with a group in London and am looking for something similar in Guelph.  I need some motivation to help me put in the time.. any suggestions??

Elly,

There was a group training at the University. Harry Barnes ran it I think. It was realtively cheap and the one on one instruction was good. The pool time was invaluable for me. They even did an underswater video analysis of my swim stroke.

I'm trying to find out if they are doing it again this year. If I get any details I'll pass them along.

Other than that I'm just going to head back to the Athletic Club to train.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone know of any other groups in Guelph!

The triathlon swim at the U of G Sunday mornings is now stroke improvement I think its called.  Fall session still going.  New season will begin I think in January.  Check out Guelph Athletics site, U of Guelph.  They have it on there and you can register too.  I have taken it several times and a very good bang for your buck.  Harry and Alan were great!  The Guelph Tri Club is relatively new....lots of good people associated with it.  I visit their website often.  They do a great job too!  Guelph has a wonderful triathlete population.

Do you usually swim somewhere other than the Athletic club?  I find their pool much too short and the water is too warm.

I used to swim at the Y but there's too many people.

Other than that there's the Master progam at the University pool. OR on Sunday's Victor D has a 50m swim sometime in the afternoon that nices since it's long.

I still swim at the Y and I seem to hit it at good times usually.  Yes V Davies has the long 50m Saturday and I think Sunday.  Nice to get the long swim distance pool in the training.

There are monthly tri training days at the U of G Triathlon Training Centre - next and last one for this year is November 30th - Swim 8:00-10:00; Cycle 10:00-12:00-Run 12:00-1:00.   Cost is 40.00 for all three sessions or you can do pick the sessions you want to do.   Bring your bike and trainer.   You can get more details, I think, on the OAT site.
