Just out of curiousity, is there a service in Win XP professional that is needed for the Forerunner 305 -> BT connectivity? Mine is working sporadically and I'm wondering if I may have turned off a service that's needed!

Yeah... I probably disable too many services... I'm a geek like that.

I turn junk like that off too. I don't have a Garmin so can't help. I would consult the almighty google by looking at the list of junk I have disabled, and one by one googling "disabled service garmin forerunner 305".

Good luck!

As long as Garmin Communicator is available then that should be sufficient. We've seen problems arise with workouts that are very big (3.5MB or so and up) as well as when there's a less than reliable internet connection.

Not sure if it was just a fluke, but this is what I did earlier after finishing my session for the day.

I attempted to log my bike and run session (recorded as two separate sessions, not a multisport session). I had the same issue, it gave me an error and told me to contact BT support.

So, I checked out msconfig.

I turned on "Java Quick Starter" and "Portable Media Serial Number" services, then restarted the PC. I got back on BT, and both run and bike session logged. My guess it was the Java Quick Starter service that needs to be running... I'm pretty sure the Portable Media Serial Number service isn't needed, but I didn't want to figure it out at the time! I'll turn it off to see what happens.

It works now... woohoo!!!!

So... turns out it is the Portable Media Serial Number service that's needed. So you Garmin users out there, don't turn it off, or else you'll get trouble trying to upload your data from your device!

I give up... it's still not working 100%.

Could it be that I upload it to Sporttracks first, then without turning the Garmin off, log it in BT? I'll try going to BT first next time and see what happens.

If that still doesn't fix it... it's gotta be my connection.
