Hey guys!  A new month, a new team!  I'm Erica, a SAHM of 3 kids (8,6,5).  This is my second season of tri's.  My super power is biking this month.  I am gearing up for my first HIM in June and I need some serious miles on my bike.  Glad to see some familiar names and look forward to meeting the rest of you!  GO X-MEN!

Hi everyone!  My name is Katie and I am starting my first full season of tris.  I did one super sprint at the end of last summer and have two sprints scheduled for this year.  My super power is swimming because I always seem to make excuses for not getting to the pool.

I am married and am a general surgery resident in Chicago.

I am not sure I have been on challenge teams with any of you before but I am very happy to meet you all!

Hello, everyone!

Name's Lora.  This is my second season of tris and I came to triathlons with absolutely zero background in swimming, biking or running.  So, any progress I make is highly treasured.

I, too, am doing my first HIM this season.  I'm also doing my first Oly before that.  Luckily the HIM is at the very end of the season so I have all spring and summer to tremble train.

My super power is biking and my goal is 5 hours on the bike.

HELLO HELLO HELLO!

im super excited about our challenge this month, and for our new team!

FOR ONCE ill be TOTALLY COOL in the eyes of my 12 year old son when i tell him that im one of the X-MEN.

my name is STACIE, im a reluctant SAHM, though i love the freedom it affords me to spend time with my kids, in my home, and to train for my events.  my oldest son is 12, and has Aspergers Syndrome (high-functioning Autism).  my middle son is 9, and my youngest son just turned 7.  my dh is just that, a dear, and puts up w my triathlon 'silliness'

this is my FIRST season as a triathlete, coming to tris quite by accident - i was nursing a foot injury and i couldnt run, and i had to do something or would have gone completely bonkers.

the doctor recommended swimming and cycling as a good alternative until my foot healed enough to run again.  i got HOOKED, immediately.  i LOVE the balance of the tri disciplines.  i dont see myself ever going back to running exclusively.

i have Mini Sprint scheduled the end of April, a 10K relay leg of the now famous PITTSBURGH MARATHON the beginning of May, and a Full Sprint mid-May.

im ending my Spring Race Season the beginning of June w a tinsy little bike ride, they like to call the MS150 ESCAPE TO THE LAKE   a two day, 150 mile trek to the shores of Lake Erie, sure to be an EPIC JOURNEY.

i would say this is most challenging endurance event ive participated to date.  and one that simply scares the begeebees out of me.

so in attempt to quell my fears, my superpower for this challenge is.....

CYCLING!

13 hours is my stated goal, but id secretly like to hit 15.

so, here we GO X-MEN.  the April challenge awaits!

SUPER SILLY CYCLIST AWAY!!!

i really need to get a cooler name.....no wonder my kids thinks im a total dork.

Ben, Katie, Lora, nice to meet ya!  Sounds like a lot of us are doing our first HIM this season.  Mine is in June.  I'm excited but terrified at the same time.  Eek!

Today I have a trainer ride on tap.  1 hour 20 minutes.  Blech.  On Wednesday, my youngest, Liam, doesn't have school so it makes my training a bummer.  Today is his birthday too so it makes it extra difficult.  Add on the fact he has a dentist appointment, my daughter has Girl Scouts, the kids have AWANA (church program), Wednesday's are CRAZY here!

What does everyone else have on tap?  Hope our other teammates chime in soon!

ETA:  Looks like Stacie has arrived!

HI ERICA!  YES I HAVE ARRIVED

so looking forward to our adventures together, TEAM X-MEN.  wahooo!

well after the misfortunate of getting attacked by a killer virus monday evening [where was my superpowers when i needed them the most??], and tapering it back yesturday, my intention is to head to the Y today to get a run in....38 to 48 mins depending on what this ol bod allows me to do.

im in no hurry today, so whatever works.

mother nature has given me a second chance (bless her) since i missed my ride yesturday. [it still that time of year round here where you need to schedule your trng around good weather days and bad weather days w the bad weather days still outnumbering the good]

ill be getting one of my longer rides in down at the trail, ticking off some of those cycling hours.  lots of time in the saddle.

so no time to waste, its SUPER SILLY CYCLIST AWAY!

Hey Bob.  I didn't want to be a Power Puff Girl either!

I need to get on my bike but I don't feel like it.  Blah.  But, Liam's dentist appt is in two hours.  I should just get it over with now.  Okay, I'm off.  See you all after my lovely trainer ride.  What do you all do while on the trainer to make the time go faster?????

Morning all- this is a drop back week for me so I am going a little stir crazy, but my legs are still a little sore from the race I did on Sunday (or it could be just generalized soreness from a pretty heavy workout week last week)

Plan is for a short run this evening when I get home from work.

I am done with my first bike workout of the month.  What a total sweat fest!  I watched my Race Day dvd that came with my trainer.  What a kick in the pants!  It's the second time I have done it and I sweat more and more each time!  Does anyone have any of the Spinerval dvds?  If so, what do you think of them?  I want to try them out but they aren't cheap.  I wonder if I can rent them.  I'll have to check Netflix too.

ETA:  Sweaty TOPpage!

My indoor track is the same.  That is why I haven't run on it.  I'm afraid I'd get all dizy and keel over.  That and I can't keep track of how many laps I've run.  I think I have a bit of ADD!
