Subject: Cervelo sizing question

Have been been considering a Cervelo PS2 size 56 for purchase used online.  Not able to find any Cervelos in my area to check if that is a correct size for me.  I am 5ft 10.5 inches tall with a 31 inch inseam.  Current road bike is a 56 Specialized Allez Sport. When fitted for that bike the fitter said I could have gone with a 58 but 56 seems fine.  I have pretty good flexibility-able to touch knuckles to the floor with legs straight.  I am worried that the 56 may be too "big" although I read alot about the flexibility of the Cervelo set up.  If I get the bike I plan to go to my LBS and have adjustments made for proper fit-just want to make sure that would be possible with this size frame.  All help appreciated.

Just for comparison, I am 5'08" with a 30 in. inseam and ride a 51cm P2C/P3C.  That being said, a 56 for you may be on the big side and leave you feeling stretched out.  Don't take a chance buying blind, travel to a dealer and try the different sizes before buying.

A good place to start would be to compare the Cervelo geometry measurements to your results from the Competitive Cyclist TT Fit Calculator.

I just bought a P2c this week and I'm 5'9".  Size: 51cm.  I previously was fitted for a 54cm on a Specialized and Guru.  I was told I was sized between 51 & 54.  Personally, I wouldn't go that big.  54cm might be better for you.

X2.  This recommended the size of my Cervelo AND my current MTN bike to me.  They both fit like a dream.  I set my bikes up close to what they also suggest (saddle height, saddle to handelbar spacing, etc) and they both ride really well.

6-1, with 35.5 cycling inseam. 582mm Effective Top Tube (Size 58) and 90mm stem on my road bike, but 565mm on a tri fit. 56 seems a little big. Just my $0.02.

You said the Cervelo you are looking at is the S2 model which is a road bike. I am the same size including inseam. I found the a 56 worked well for my Soloist Team (Now call S1). The P1/P2/P3 are TT/TRI bikes so the sizing is different. If I got a P2, It would be a 52.

I used competive cyclist Fit Calculator and because the nearest Cervelo dealer is 150 miles away I went through Competive cyclist demo program to verfiy that it was the right size. I then bought the frameset through them. I got all my components through my LBS and had them build it for me. The LBS help fine tune the fit.

6'1'' and have the 56 inch P2SL... Seams to me that they are unique in sizing based on top tube/torso.

The torso is the key.  People could throw heights out there like crazy and they could be all over the map with regards to a particular bike brand and size.

I have a 54cm Cervelo P2-SL which is actually too small even though I am only 5'9-10".  I have a 29" inseam and am wicked long in the torso.  I really need a 56 in the P3 that is a little longer.  I'm not upgrading any time soon though...  Cost too much to find a low and long frame as those seem to be the pricier bikes.

I am 5'10" with a 30" inseam. I ride a 56 P2C and had to get a longer stem put on it due to a long torso. I would take the advise everyone else has said and find a dealer to get a good idea of what size you need.

I'm sure this is late, but just for the record. I am 5'11" with a 31" inseam, and 25" arm length. I have an 08 P2Sl 56. I have to set the seat in it's farthest back position and stretch my aerobars as far forward as possible to get comfortable. I used the "fit calculator" and all the dimensions work out to within about 1 cm of what it recommends. The P2SL 56 is a perfect fit... I think.

You really need to get to a dealer.  FYI - More important than inseam length is femor length. 

I am in the process of buying a new P3 and got an initial fit this week.  It will be well worth your time to get fit properly before you make a big investment in a TT bike.  On top of that, it's a fun way to spend an afternoon and you'll learn a few things while you are there. 

Be sure you go to a shop where the fitter races a Tri/TT bike - he'll have a good perspective on doing it the right way.
