Is anyone doing this one? I am doing the Sprint distance. We went up there 2 weeks ago to check out the course. The ride was full of rollers and one short but sweet climb other then that it was fun. The run was flat and the lake was ice cold. I feel sorry for the 1/2 Iron people, yikes it was cold. We have been swimming Thetis Lake for the last two fridays and can last about 1000m before we cramp up. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up after for a little meet and great...

I'll be there - volunteering.
I'm a fair weather athlete - Shawnigan's still a bit cold for me. ;-)

As to where I'll be ... noooo idea where I'll be volunteering (last year I was miserable stuck in the middle of the bush on the run course all by my lonely) ... this year HOPEFULLY I'll be in transition ... but make sure you post your bib # before the race and I'll be sure to find you!

I'm in for the 1/2 iron, the water's not bad, I was in there today, it's not as cold as it was 2 years ago that's for sure. Should be a good day, hope the weather keeps getting better. Good luck to everyone else participating in all distances.

Cheers,
Mike

I'm also in for the half!

It should be great!  I swim with a club out of Commonwealth and since the workouts are usually pretty crazy, I havent gotten a chance to do any OWSs in ages! It's probably going to be a shocking swim, but I'm ready!

I can't really stick around after the race unfortunately, even if I win an award  I'll do my best though!

It was an awesome day, I had a decent go of it, 19th overall in the 1/2 iron 5th in my age group, 4:51:xx for the event. Will put up a race report sometime soon, but I don't think we could have asked for better conditions as athletes, what a day!!! Congrats to everyone who met there goals.

Cheers,
Mike

Congrats to everyone!
Amazing race!  I loved the course and the volunteers were absolutely fantastic!

Went 4:41.43 and ended up with a swim win!  Looking forward to reading race reports... Mine is already done since I'm a keener!

Congrats everyone! It was a gorgeous day, perfect for a race.

I'm sorry I didn't get to meet up with any of you all - I was "Marshalling" out on the bike course, and didn't feel like heading back in at noon (bike cut-off time) ...

And I use the term Marshalling loosely - because basically I sat on a chunk of concrete beside the railroad tracks (north end of the lake, on Renfrew) just in case a train came and I had to take bib #'s and stoppage times.

But I did cheer EVERY SINGLE RIDER on as they went by - so we did have at least a one-way conversation!

Who's doing the Series? I'll be doing the sprint at Elk Lake June 21, if I can manage to stay injury-free until then. My RVM training officially starts today - so it is likely I'll have at least one owie by mid-June.

I'm in for the whole series!
I'll be there for the New Balance Half, but with 3 weeks of swim training in me, and minimal bike/run training.  Hopefully I'll be in decent shape for the race since I can actually race the run this time!
Yeeeeehaw!

Are you doing the full marathon?

Naw I'm doing the Half ... I tore my Achilles a few years ago, and it did not heal properly (ie: I had a terrible doctor who didn't send me for surgery when he should have) ... and now I'm having lingering problems with pain, inflammation, and micro tears ... you should see the bump, it looks like I have half a partially squished grape stuck under my skin.

So I'm taking it easy this year.
