Elite 3519 San Jose, CA | Subject: RE: Favorite Iphone Apps and uses I am thinking of buying an Ipod Touch. I don't need all the conectivity stuff...I basically need a PDA, and they don't really make them anymore. Work is paying for it. But I have questions. I need a calendar function and a to do list function and I would love to be able to make my own data entry forms to make my job at work easier. Are there apps for these issues |

Are there apps for these issues Calendar is included, and works well. To Do list...there's probably apps you can download but included is a "notes" application that opens a thing like a legal pad to type stuff on. Not sure on the data entry, but I understand it's not terrible to build your own apps. I have no idea on that though. There are tons and tons of third party applications for the device though. I am shocked at how many.

I've never used a palm, but these might be good points. Syncing with google calendar works, i.e. if I want an alert in google calendar, that alert will happen on the touch when I turn it on. It doesn't "wake up" and tell me though. So, that could be weak as compared to a palm device. I personally can type easier on the touch then I can on the tiny keyboards on palms/windows PDA's I've tried in stores, but that's me. Web browsing is awesome when in a wi-fi area. Email works beautifully. This seems to solve the spreadsheet availability and would allow you to enter data (from what it looks like...don't have it myself). But, crazyyella makes some good points. |

Extreme Veteran 464 Louisville, KY | Subject: RE: Favorite Iphone Apps and uses I hate my iphone...anyone want it? I do use the GPS app when traveling. The Weather app sometimes. Mostly just for getting work email and do use the ipod feature. I think its a cool toy for personal use, but for professional use, I've stated this before......Blackberry is a much better option. |

I didnt like the calendar app that came w/ the iphone. I had a palm and I realy liked the calendar that came with it. The only app I found that is even close to that is US Calendar. It has every single holiday you can imagine and a blurb about each too. It does have a decent monthly view, and you can look at the month in a glance. It does have some issues that I hope the update or fix - you cant do a weekly view, the repeat functions are missing options like repeat every X days. Its still better than the what came w/ it and it was onbly .99 Its not as good as a palm. If you only want a PDA, get a palm over a itouch. I have a freind that has an itouch and she has the same issues w/ the calendar as I do. She did like our iphones b/c we can connect through the cellphone line, where she could only connect if wifi is available. But she considers the itouch more of an upgrade from an ipod. I got tired of carriyng 3 items (work phone, other work phone and PDA) and wanted to get a smart phone. I liked the feel of the iphone better than the blackberry. I have big fingers and I feel that I can type faster on the iphone than on the tiny keys. Plus I like the iphone screen size. |

You can download the same apps as the iPhone (except you can't use the ones that have features specific to the phone obviously). I like the calendar app that comes with it. There's a bunch of ToDo apps, but I just use my Google to do list and that works well. |

I have an iTouch. You can download the same apps as the iPhone (except you can't use the ones that have features specific to the phone obviously). Can you use an ear bud with a microphone on an iTouch? If so, I think you can then use Skype to make calls on the the iTouch through Wifi. Not positive about that.
