Less than a month to go. Let me know if anyone wants to get together on a Sunday morning to get a ride of the course and maybe a swim or run or all 3 in.  Sunday early am is good for me, or really early any weekday will also work for me. Run course is flat as a pancake, and the bike has one long climb followed by a fast downhill. Let me know!!!

If it doesn't sell out I may be a late entrant... don't know yet, however, depends on work/family obligations.

Gabe- rip it up!

Hi everyone - I'm thinking of doing this race as a first time ocean water swim. I've done a lot of other sprints already, but all lake swims. Any words of wisdom for the ocean swim? Does the salt water have a big impact on hydration or anything?

Also - planning on heading down there on Friday morning around 8am to do the swim and bike (maybe run too - depending) if anyone wants to meet up.

if you can make it earlier, i will be there with a few friends tommorrow (Friday) at 6am....i know that is wicked early, but i have to be on the highway by 8am for work.

Sunday i plan on riding the course again weather permitting, i have not decided on the time yet.  Anyone want to join me??  AM would be best for traffic sake.

Biggest issue with ocean swims is chop.  If there is chop you need to time your breathing properly or you'll get a mouthful of sea water.  I don't know the beach where this is held but LIS does have some areas with some current also.  As to hydration, you may be a little more thirsty on the bike so put a full bottle on there.

Rudy- Here is my issue: my wife and kids are due back on the 15th, but if they stay on MV until the following week I can do the race.  I guess I can always sign up and not do it.  But I am inclined to see how it goes for the next few days and if I can't get in the race maybe i'll volunteer and hang with you guys after.

Just found out that the beach is not rented next week so family wil be away through the 19th.  I'll be back the 12th: is anyone preriding the course next week?

Rudy: PM me as to what I should bring.  If I ad-lib it will likely be a pig part.

I love triathlon as much as the next guy, but come on!!    $75 bucks for a sprint is a little ridiculous.

The party afterwards sounds great.

FFC is an expensive place to hold a race(?)  I agree it is pricey but hopefully proceeds go to a good cause.

the price is right online with all the other Tri's on the gold coast.

Westport Micro sprint  $50
Fairfield  $70
Darien  $100  little longer than a sprint

all those races are in the fall, Mossman is primetime in the middle of summer. I also know that some of the $$ goes to charity, i will ask at our next team meeting next tuesday as to which one it goes.

As was stated, Fairfield County is ridiculously expensive, so i am sure it costs a bit more to run the race, from the insurance and police help to start. I do not get into details of RD'ing, not my cup of tea and quite honestly do not have the time and resources to do it.

i will be able to tell you what will be in the schwag bag, as i will be stuffing them next tuesday at our meeting, lol

you are more than welcome to the BBQ, should be a good time!!

Rudy - I'll probably plan on getting there around 5ish (630 start is crazy early).  Just let me know where you want to meet up.

If anyone is interested, I may try and preride the course saturday (likely 2-3 loops as this will be a C race and I need to ride as amuch as possible.  Will probably brick with 10-15 minute run.  Maybe a cool down swim)
