I push my 6 year old and 3 year old on some of my runs.  I always drive to a flat place and run from there because the hills around here are big.  I don't focus on my pace since I'm pushing over 100 pounds, but instead just try and run a good steady effort.  I might be running 10 minute miles but my effort is more like 8:30's.

I push my kids in the jogger a couple times a week during the summer months. It slows you down but it give you some more time with the kids. Consider it a modified hill workout. I tend to run slow enough that I can talk to my kids since they often point things they see out to me. They really enjoy taking their afternoon snack on the jogger too.
I don't think I'd run a foot race with the kids in the Jogger, although I've been to some 5 and 10k's where others have done it.
If the run takeds a little longer, or you don't cover quite as much distance I don't think that's an issue. We've got to do what we've got to do to get the training in.

I push my girls who are almost 3 and 4. Combined about 75 lbs. It's not easy but it still works! I certainly slow down a bit but figure it's a great workout anyway!

I have done 5K's with my son. I am only pushing one kid though. Our first one he was 9 months and about 22 lbs, it affected my time a bit but at least in my opinion the biggest thing for me was getting enough training in with the stroller to get my form adapted to it.

Did you guys also have to do some adjusting to get used to the handle in one hand and not being able to swing your arms?
I think a lot of it depends on the stroller too. I used to have a jogger hand me down that came from Target, smaller wheels and it was more work to push. Now I have a Chariot carrier, larger wheels and it tracks straight much better than the old one. With the new stroller I am back at close to my old pace.

I push the same kids as DavidTri's :-)
I think of it as my secret weapon. Other people who only have to move their own body weight forward are at a disadvantage, because I build leg strength, and then I am much faster when I don't have that stroller. (i.e. in a race)
Also, it's convenient to have a water bottle on there.
I try to push them in an area where there is a gradual incline and decline on the streets. Going uphill is very challenging, and then I get a break when I go back the other way and I am really just chasing down the jogger.

It did take a little getting used to as far as form. I still struggle to alternate arms equally so my running form doesn't get lopsided.

I run 5K with my kids but they are on their bikes.  They are 5 and 8 years old.  They slow me down quite a bit because I have to watch out for cars and make sure they stop at cross roads.  My youngest get pretty tired at the end so I put a hand on his back an push him the last 1k (which is pretty much all up hill).  They are getting better and speeding up each time they go.

You gotta do what you can to get training in.

I sometimes push my kids, (8 and 5) in a double stroller.  They don't mind it too much, it is a bit harder as they are getting really big, I'll have my son start riding his bike with me soon.  The other day they started cheering for me and asked if that gave me more energy, I said yes, so they cheered for me for the rest of the run...  :-)  It was wicked funny...
