Subject: Getting runaround from NAS re: refund
Rogillio's thread reminded of a situation I've been dealing with, trying to get a refund check from the IM people... anyone else had this sort of experience?  Anyone know anyone higher on the food chain over there?

---- April 10th ----
Hello Ann,

I am one of the Multisports.com athletes, and had registered for IMLP through them this year.  I ruptured my Achilles tendon about a month ago, so obviously will not be doing an IM this season, so I need to withdraw and request a partial refund.  I did not pay through Active.com, so my understanding is that I will receive a refund check?  Please let me know if you need any more information from me, and when I might expect a refund check.

Thank you,
Tim Kutz

Hello again Ann,

I sent this email last Friday.  Could you please respond?  For the prices that WTC charges for their races, I would expect better customer service.

Thank you,
Tim Kutz

Hello Ann,

I haven't seen a check yet.  Did it go out?

Thank you,
Tim Kutz

Hi Tim,
Thank you for your E-mail!   Your check did go out and should be there within the next couple of weeks.
Kindest Regards,

Hello Ann,

It has been three weeks since I received this email from you.  I am not sure why it takes so long to send out a check.

I would appreciate a status on this.

Thank you,
Tim Kutz

Haven't heard anything back.  WTH??

Looks like the switch to WTC from NAS didn't improve customer service at all.

"the check went out and should be there in a couple weeks"???   Unless you live in Egypt, translates into...  no, the check hasn't gone out

The only thing I can think of is that their definition of "check going out" is something in the system they input...and then it's out of their hands to go through wickets until a check is finally printed....which could take weeks.

Keep at it...two months SHOULD be plenty of time.

It once took me nearly 2 years to get a refund from Delta airlines. By the end, I think I was getting 'paid' about 5cents/hour for the time it took me to get the blood out of that particular turnip.

Good luck!

ETA:  Oh, and yeah, the good money is on 'the check has not actually gone out', by any reasonable definition of the term.

Tim,
If I remember correctly, it took me about 2 months to finally get a check when I withdrew from IMLP a couple years ago.

Why do you think you deserve a refund exactly?

Why do you think you deserve a refund exactly?

Because WTC/NAS policy allows for a partial refund if you withdraw before a certain date?
