I am signed up!! (Race #2)
It's the Fireman's pond right?  I have done the ice fishing contest there for years and years, will be interesting to be on the water in the summer for the first time.
My mom grew up in Chaska, still have family that lives there so hopefully I can get some fans out again.
I'll have to get out there and bike the course one of these weekends, I am assuming the course on the website is acurate? ( http://www.chaskatri.com/

oh and did I mention its my birthday that day!

This will by my second year for me, my brother and my friend Andrew. Had a blast last year as it was our first tri and we're really looking forward to seeing how we can do this year. I also have some family members who have formed a team to attempt to take us down. Not happening!!! Since the swim is a pond it's kind of funny what strange green things get kicked up during the swim. I kept having green toilet brush feeling things go over me.

Sounds good, I might be playing golf at deer run this weekend , maybe I ll bring my stuff and take off from there, looks like it runs right by the course.
If I don't golf maybe I'll just go out Sat morning, thanks for the info.

I biked the course on Sat, I am not prepared for all those hills! DAMN

For those that have raced it before, does the bike start up Creek Rd or do you go past Creek Rd then up?
I rode it clockwise (Deer Run on the right) and finished going down Creek Rd.  Pretty much all the other bikers I saw were going the other way.  The way I went looked a little easier to me.
Not sure I want to start with the climb  up Creek rd!!!!!

Yep, you rode it backwards. When you leave the park parking lot it's your first right, you head past the legion and on up the hill. That hill is pretty deceiving though, it looks steeper then it is. It is long though! At least you have the pretty creek to follow on up the road. I actually really like the bike ride. It's hilly and feels all up hill for the first half but I like the variety. Last year all the roads were closed to traffic as well which made it more fun. I too was out there Saturday! You shouldn't worry to much about the hills on the bike though. It's the hill on the run that's out to get ya. Tongue out

I'm really excited for this one this year. Was my first tri last year and I can't wait to see how I've improved! I suppose I should add IF I've improved.

Yeah I figured I was backwards when I saw everyone else going the other way, it is a nice ride actually.  At least there is a nice downhill at the end (my start) to rest up a little before the widow maker run up the hill on 41.
Thanks for the info.

Would those who have raced this say there is enough room (before the first hill) to try the shoes-on-the-bike setup?  I've been practicing this, but need a solid 300 or 400 yards of relatively flat surface to get my feet strapped in.  I figured I would give it a try this race.

As far as getting your feet into your shoes It's probably going to work out that you take the right first then pedal a bit more and then you'll reach a bit of a downhill. It will probably take more feet on shoe pedaling then you'd really want but I think it's the plan I'm going to use. That or just try to put them in shortly after taking that right turn.

Thanks for the info.  I will wait until looking at it Sat. morning before making my final decision, but leaning to putting shoes on in Transition area rather than on bike.  I think the time savings is very marginal for a non-elite racer anyway.  I will take shoes off while still on bike however - that is much easier I think!

Cool graphic!  The first mile looks like the quote from Star Wars Phantom Menace - "Ouch time!"  I just have to remember for the first mile "slow and steady, slow and steady", then for the last mile "Run Forrest, run!"
