Subject: RE: Anyone quantify how far off their training plan they are time-wise?merlin2375 - 2009-06-25 3:28 PM Just wondering, I don't log on BT unfortunately but use SportTracks/Excel. I am about 10% off on my total training time (over the past 18 weeks when I am on the plan) just before I begin my taper here. I'm not going to try and make anytime up or anything, just wondering if anyone else looks at this. Not really, I tend to look more at total load. I use a few softwares for myself and my atletes (Training Peaks and RaceDay ) to quantify total workload (volume/duration + intensity ) and based on that I can see how consistent my workload is week after week. Sometimes I train more hrs yet my total load is around the same as some weeks I've trained less because my intensity was harder. You can use volume (hours/miles ) to have an idea how close or not you are from your plan/goals, IOW how much work you have done, however you should consider intensity as well to get a better idea how much work rate is that you have accomplish week in week out. Remember is not the same doing 10 hrs of easy training than doing the same 10 hrs of moderate/hard training. The latter will produce greater fitness gains and chronic fatigue in general. |
