First Sprint Tri in the morning, didn't get real nervous until I started packing.

Any last minute advice on calming the nerves?

  1. Write out a checklist for pre-race and transition.  Follow it.
  2. Get into the water before your swim wave.  Its a two-fer - Swim off some of the nerves and warmup at the same time.
  3. Plan to enjoy yourself and don't sweat the time too much.

Remember, this is supposed to be fun.  I have my first tomorrow and I'm so excited I can barely stand it.  12 hours and 20 minutes until my wave starts.

Just get to sleep...somehow. It can be hard, I know. Last tri I did I had a tri-nightmare, of all things, that the event already started w/out me, and I couldn't find the starting or transition areas. Just get to bed, early, to account for the fact that you prob. won't fall asleep right away.

I had a dream last night I had a checklist, packed everything layed it all out and went to get my bike off the back of the car, and I left it at home.

I felt the same way! I needed a nap before I could even think about posting a race report.  But it's up now!

I act like I've done it before.  Even if I have done only one little sprint.

I also tell everyone else (in my own head) - you may be better than me, but you can't beat me.  Sure, that doesn't always happen, but it motivates me going in.
