was riding yesterday, and this dude in a big ole' pick up was backing out of a driveway....didn't see me at all.

he was backing out slow, than stopped, so I figure he saw me, than last second he started backing out again.  Literally, 2-3 seconds I'm under his truck...Reminded me of the scene in Benjamin Button when he describes how a 3 second minute detail in your day effects everything.

Be careful out there!!  Next time that happens, I'm stopping until I know for sure he/she sees me...

crude...drivers can be unpredictable.

Are you ok?

My biggest issue lately is drivers pulling out of businesses on busy road and look for traffic but not the sidewalks and each run I do I get a scare.

Yeah I have to deal with this everytime I ride the MTB to work.  We have some nice 6' sidewalks around the county park nearby but cars always will pull out over the highly marked crosswalk areas.  This is why I love the blinking white LED,  I put that on years ago because I swear people were looking right at me but they aren't they're looking past me for cars.  Blinking LED pulls their attention to me.

cusetri, glad you're OK.  Any road rash?

I always make eye contact and will often point at them, which is not aggressive but lets them know you are watching them.

It seems some drivers hesitate for a second when they see you and then go anyway.  We're pretty low on the food chain.

Glad you're ok too! Close call indeed.

I follow the eye contact rule as well, I have a tendency to stare until I'm past the car. Cars back up = tougher though.
