I know it's a bit of a "it depends" question, BUT, looking for info on AVG for replacing road tires.  I ride on "average" to "good" roads and have approximately 900 miles on mine.  Looking for some input.

I get probably 3500-4500 miles on my tires.

Whenever I catch a piece of glass that slices through the tire I replace it. Dunno about distance, I've never had one last more than about 1000 miles.

At least you know how many miles are on them!  This is one area I don't do so well in.  I REALLY need to start writing down when I put tires on!  I couldn't tell you how much are on mine.  I just eventually realize they need to be replaced.

But...depending on the tire...should last longer than 900 for sure.

Depends on the tire.

A race tire should last around 1000, if you successfully avoid glass and debris

A commuter/trainer should last about 2000. If the tire is showing signs of wear (flat tread, drying out, small cuts etc) replace it.

I did too until a BT'r pointed me towards the equipment tracking feature on BT under Settings.  Pretty cool for tires and shoes.

I've thought about that...but then you'd be selecting lots of equipment for each ride...I just have my bikes in there for now.  But I could imagine if you had to add separate trackers for your front and rear tires you'd have to select three pieces of equipment each ride!  And a different one if you're using your trainer wheel!
