I bought a few boxes of gels in May.  I've been using them, and just noticed today that I have a half box left of ones that expired in May.

I haven't noticed that they taste any different.  Would you use them still, or should I pitch them?

It wouldn't bother me ... but I'm not really strict on expiration dates... Builds the immune system. *giggling*

I had a few like that last year, as well as a friend of mine.  We both used ours without ill consequences.

As long as they are air tight you should be ok.

It's like sweetened condensed milk - the stuff is practically bacteria proof due to the high ratio of sugar to solids. I'd eat it. Then again, it's not too expensive so maybe I wouldn't...

I found some old Gu packets in a drawer from about 1.5 years ago, and decided to try them.  Ewww, not good.  Didn't make me sick or anything, but tasted foul.

The say "best by".  I guess since I've been using them and they still taste good, I'll just hurry and finish them up.

Thanks!

You mean they can go bad

I Ate a Cliff bar while on a ride today that was dated July 4, 2008 when someone riding with me mentioned he hoped it didn't have peanuts I laughed and figured it was manufactured well before the peanut scare from last year.

I just ate an old vanilla Powerbar Gel that was bought sometime last year...other than it being all "globbed" together and not the normal smooth consistency, it tasted fine and I had no ill effects.

LOL, I bought about four cases of powergel years ago, when they were clearanced! Then forgot I had them. Did a search on expiration, posted the question, and ended up trying one. Tasted fine, so I ended up using them all.

I got a free bucket of Power Bar Endurance powder because it had just gone beyond the expire date and they were going to throw it away. Not a problem
