I've read a lot of threads about getting a flat during the race latetly, and now I'm scared :-p

I do have a flat kit on my bike at all times, but it does not have an extra tube.  The kit I have is:  http://spokesetc.com/itemdetails.cfm?LibId=20356

do you all think that that is enough???  This is my first tri, and my bike is pretty new (bought in Feb - racing in Aug), so I don't expect to need one, but with all this talk, I might as well make sure I don't need to go buy anything else - just in case...

A lot depends on the type of tri you are doing. Anything over a sprint and I would want to have at least one spare tube. The problem with a patch is you may have a hard time finding the leak or it may be in a location where the patch does not hold well. Also, say you find the hole, patch it, spend a CO2 cartridge only to discover a second leak. Much easier just replacing the tube, especially if you are in a race.

I second that!  I always carry one.  For really long rides, two, as I've had the unfortunate experience of pinching my (first) replacement tube as I was installing it :-(

I agree. Gotta have the tubes. The kit is for a last resort. Sitting on the side of the road with sweat in your eyes and bugs landing on you, the last thing you want to be doing is scuffing, glueing and patching a pinhole in your $3 tube and hoping it will work. Rip that thing out and stick in a new one.
