2 weeks away... Anyone in???

I decided to not defend my AG title in the 1/2 this year, and do the Oly!

Note: I think there was only 5 people in my AG last year... Nothing spectacular.  Just sounded great to say !

Hey Steve - i signed up for the OLY as well!  it should be fun - i'm hoping it isn't too hot since it starts pretty early.  is the bike/run pretty flat?

Coming up from Colorado for this race. Well actually to see family and get a 3 week traincation in. I raced it last year and it's a mildly fast course. I may have got outta the saddle once on the bike. Couple of small hills on the run. Water is super clear though

Well, I'll be there...signed up, but had to withdrawl due to injury. (broken Clavicle). Did the Sprint last year and was signed up to do the Oly this year. My buddy is doing the 1/2.
The Oly/Sprint run/bike is quite flat. Expect a fast bike split. Water is clear as day which is nice. On the sprint last year they had a "guide rope" at the bottom of the water which was real nice since the swim was right into the sun and hard to spot. Not sure if it will be there this year or not.

Its a great race! sure wish I was doing it. but oh well, I'll be there next year for sure!

good luck and have fun!

I did the Oly last year and think it is an excellent forum, and well organized.
It started relatively early and beat most of the heat till the end of the run, but I remember quite a number of water/gatoraid support sites.

I consider the bike and run to be incredibly flat.  There was a slight headwind on the ride out (up the lake) but the ride back was very nice.  There are a few small hills but they are all short and gradual compared to my training at least.

Enjoy and good luck,
Michael

The Olympic AG brackets are going to be deep this year, looks like 360+ have registered as of 7/10. Last year about 250 registered for the Olympic. The sun glare on the return swim leg was significant - made it difficult to sight the last few hundred yds into the shore correctly once the underwater line ended, have a set of tinted goggles in your bag!

I'm in for the sprint on Sunday.

This was my first ever tri last year and was a lot of fun.  Actually, rounderk5 - I think you beat me by a few seconds (if you are who I think you are ) - Sorry to hear about your clavicle - hope it gets better and I'll see you run past me at the Olympic next year. Laughing

Looking forward to the beautiful swim conditions.  Have a good race everyone.

It's going to be toasty... Finish fast.  Beat the sun, and good luck in the last 100-200 yards with no "line" underwater, and entry into transition.  If I remember it was a pain in the butt... It was somewhere in between 2 docks.  Buoys on your right side the entire time, then you had to make a right at a random dock.  Nothing major, or anything to freak out about.  Just remember it being "odd!"

Oly for me this year.

Wow - forecast high for tomorrow: 99o...
It's supposed to "cool down" to 98 by Sat, 88 by Sun.

Finish fast definitely sounds like a good plan.

See you guys out there at the Oly.  Hopefully the heat doesn't cause too many problems for the 1/2 participants.

Ultrahip, That was me trying to bring some motivation. You looked strong and I thought some encouragement may help the last couple miles. Sorry if I took you out of your zone? Anyway what a race I was all smiles and had a great time at a great venue. Looking foward to Lake Stevens HIM as my next event.
