Subject: What to eat in the day Leading up to race.
I have my race day nutrition all planed out.

I am looking for advice on what to eat (and not eat) in the week/days leading up to my race. (IMLP)

From what I have read so far it looks like friday is the best day to load up for Sunday race.

Please share specific food/meals that worked well for you.

Thanks

You've read wrong.  You cannot "carbo load" in one day - that myth has basically been dispelled.  Your body doesn't work like that.  If you have been following a plan and hit all your longer workouts where you'll have tapped your full glycogen reserve, then just continue to eat as you normally would have during your training all the way up to race day.  And stay on top of your hydration.

Normal eating habits and the decrease in your training load during your taper will allow you to fully replenish your glycogen stores.  Above and beyond that your body just tosses the extra carbs into fat stores basically, which is not what you want to do.

The only thing I would recommend is nothing spicy or rich that would normally give you intenstinal issues in the last few days.  And be sure to get up a min. of 3 hours before the race starts and eat a decent breakfast to "top off the tank" and be ready to go.

Good luck!!  LP is a great race.

I don't really do anything different, other than cutting out roughage the day before the race. I also like to snack on Baked Lays the day before... I think the extra sodium might be good? Tastes good anyways

I also stick to my usual diet before races, nothing new and I do eat more conservatively. I lay off the drinking usually the entire week of and hydrate a lot. I especially hydrate the day before the race. I tend to eat a bigger lunch on Saturday and a lighter dinner, and as others said, eat a few hours before the race so you have something to draw initial energy from. I haven't done an IM, but this has worked well for marathons and HIM, I'm sticking to the usual for my IM later this year. Good luck!
