I'm looking for a 70-80 mile ride in the Concord-Walnut Creek area to do this Saturday.  Any ideas?

Try this:

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/7914641  (65 miles) Good blend of hills -- 3 Bears + Skyline + Canyon

or

http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/8298095 (toughest 80 I've done) This includes Sierra Road of Agmen Tour Fame (I think the steepest part of the tour)

or

http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/8022149  Includes heading up Mount Diablo to the junction--total 70.  You can more hills by completing the climb up Mount Diablo.  Leave a little in the tank for the last 300 yards of the hill.

Hope this helps!

You could also start from Walnut Creek/Concord area and go out over Morgan Territory, then come back through San Ramon, and you could go over Mt. Diablo on the way back, or choose another option, if you've had enough of climbing by then.

There's some really nice riding out this way - especially if you like hills (I'm still working on that...)

We did most of the first route - it was great!!!  Beautiful views, great ride.  We rode from the Cowell Aquatic Center, and so added a bit onto start the route.  Cut it too close, had to call a cab to be back at the pool to watch our son swim.  We made it, he finaled, it was a great day all around!  Thanks for your help....

I'm glad you had a great time.  Were there enough hills for you?

YES!   Hills are certainly something that I need to work on - and this was a great ride for that.  And a clear day - the views helped me to ignore the pain!

7 weeks to IMWI....
