Funny, I just discovered that TODAY!

Sorry.... you're just now discovering that Lake Placid is that hilly of a bike course!?!?!?!?!?     Good luck!!!

I knew and was training for a very hilly course but that graph (compared to the other IM's) makes it look like you are climbing the Alpe D'Huez!

Just giving you a hard time    Yes, but I think the graph is more reflective of how flat(ish) those IM courses are compared to LP, and Canada as well.   But all in all, over 112 miles I believe the elevation gain is about 6500 feet.   Not all that hilly in a relative sense (unless you come from Kansas) - but still hard for an IM course

What's the saying?  One loop hero, second loop zero.    Take that first loop easy

Crap! You mean LP has more hills than I've been training on down here in Florida? I was only able to make it up to Helen, GA one time to find out how I'd do with the hills so I hope I am ready. It ought to be fun. My bib number is 1345 for what that is worth.

I am just now finding out how hilly LP is. I am doing it in 2010. I am hoping the Houston weather makes up for the lack of hills when trying to do this thing.

I admit in my neck of Kansas there are zero hills. But up in Lawrence where IM Kansas 70.3 was held, there were a-plenty.

I'm more worried about flying down the hills in the rain than I am climbing them. I'm afraid that if it rains like it did last year my teeth will be chattering so hard I won't be able to eat or drink anything.

Completely agree.
I've heard people describe the same course as "the craziest, hilliest course I've ever seen" (lived in Florida) to "Meh... some rollers" (from California). 
 
But I do like that chart above where it lays the elevations on top of each other... pretty cool comparison.
 

During June I rode both Lake Placid and Wisconsin and Lake Placid was definitely more comfortable. I think the hardest part about LP was that long uphill at the end of the loop, it's about 12 miles I think, and while it's not steep, it's long and gradual so my legs have never felt more beat up in a brick. You don't get a moment to rest. Wisconsin's hills were unrelenting and I rode it much slower with a much harder effort. I think as someone said it's all relative. But in LP there is a several mile downhill (I believe 7-9) that you get to enjoy twice so you can figure you'll get a little rest there

the course has some hills, but nothing too steep most riders can stay seated on the climbs. I rode a 12x27 and it was plenty last year. See you all on race day.
