Using Baby oil under wetsuit?

Master 1675     Kitchener |  Subject: Using Baby oil under wetsuit?Anybody have any experience with this? My wetsuit always came off easily last year but this year it is really sticking for some reason (not due to any weight gain). Body glide doesn't really help; have found that when I use sunscreen on legs and arms, it slips right off. Was wondering if baby oil would be OK. Would it harm the suit? I am NOT going to use cooking spray - I have been told that it is definitely not good for the wetsuit. Thanks.  |

Use the KY Jelly store-brand equivalent (Target, Walgreens, CVS, whatever) - it's relatively cheap, safe on wetsuits, and works well. I'm leery of using anything labeled "oil" on neoprene & synthetics, but YMMV... Cheers, Chris |

I know that when I got my Orca wetsuit, in the owners information it actually SUGGESTED using Baby oil as a lubricant - so I would HOPE it's okaY!! (I've used it, and my wetsuit hasn't fallen apart yet.....) p.s. Just found this quote on a FAQ page from AllWetsuits.com "Are there any lubricants I should avoid using with my wetsuit? Yes. Petroleum-based lubricants such as Vaseline will actually rot your suit. You also won't want to use water-soluble lubricants because they'll dissolve while you're swimming. Stick to products such as baby oil, vegetable oil, or silicone gel." |

| Subject: RE: Using Baby oil under wetsuit? I use trislide and it's worked well for the entire time I've had my suit. If I ran out I wouldn't have a problem using Pam until I got some more, though. You just smell really good for the whole race and make people hungry  |

They were out of body glide so I went to a dive shop and found a product called "suit juice" It seems to work fine and it's chemical free and environmentally safe and made in the USA. www.suitjuice.com |

Champion 7233 | Subject: RE: Using Baby oil under wetsuit? the two things i have used that work are: PAM, or suit juice (this stuff is slippery like you would not believe) i use pam on a regular basis, and will trash my suit from taking it off on parking lots quickly WAY faster than that will ever hurt the suit, works well, and is cheap. i spray it on my wrists, feet and ankles, and down the sleeves and legs fo the suit, sucker just falls off. |
