Anyone try this before?  how fast have you go?

I was debating with someone who claim he can paddle up to 100+km/h on a bicycle with motor pacing.  And I find it's hard to believe.

As an active roadie I've done motor pacing up to about 35-40mph (~55-65kph) before my testosterone level (or stupidity!) ran out.  No doubt 100kph is possible.  It's amazing what draft you get from a larger vehicle like a van.
DISCLAIMER: Motor pacing is VERY dangerous!!!  You cannot see the road ahead and the vehicle you are pacing can stop MUCH quicker than you can on a bike at those speeds.  Though ultimately you would stop as fast as the vehicle- when you smash into it after it slams on the brakes

It's true. I saw it in a movie: Breaking Away.

Very common in track (velodrome) racing. In fact there is an event, the Kierin, that revolves around motor pacing (with a motorcycle). With a larger vehicle such as a semi, I have no doubt you can meet or exceed 60 mph (with the right gearing of course). If you do a search on YouTube, there's tons of videos of motorpacing. If my memory serves me correct, I think Lance Armstrong even describes pacing behind semi's in his book.

I've done it on the road an on the track. Some of my friends regularly do motor pacing workouts on the road behind a scooter.  I've never done it behind a car that wasn't part of the workout and discussed beforehand though.

Agree that motor pacing behind a motorcycle at a velodrome is an accepted event.  Very interesting to watch if you get the chance.
When the OP mentioned 100kph I assumed he was talking about MP a big van (or even 18 wheeler) to get a huge draft.  THAT kind of blind motor pacing behind a big rig that doesn't know (or want) you there is what I was calling dangerous.

I have motor paced behind a motorcylce as a group training exercise.  I have not done it behind anything larger or faster than about 30mph.

some of the guys at the shop always talk about motor pacing on their commutes, and they say they hit 40-45 routinely. no doubt 62 (100km/hr) is possible.
