Subject: Drafting Question
In watching the tri series on Universal Sports, and see that they draft while riding and running.  I thought drafting was against the rules.  Why is this allowed in OLY and not other tris?  Can someone open my eyes to this rule and what is and is not allowed.  Thanks.

ITU racing is a draft legal format allowing drafting on the bike. You'll notice they all ride road bikes with shortie aerobars. If you go to triathlon.org you can read/follow the style of racing.

As age groupers we compete in non-drafting events.

These races are conducted under the ITU rules which allows elite athletes to draft on the bike.

Back when the ITU was trying to get triathlon into the Olympics, the decision was that it would be an easier sell if it was a draft legal event as opposed to a typical non-draft legal event.
