They're having an Innaugural ship-to-shore one mile open water swim from the ships of Milwaukee Boat Line to the shore of Bradford Beach. Sunday, Aug 23rd

I talked to the guy organizing this back in May and he seemed pretty excited about putting something like this together.

Seems like it could be a fun time!

That would be cool!  I'm thinking that Chris would have to come back and help guide me through waters though.

i was seriously going to do this until i heard yesterday that the water temp at Bradford Beach was 55 degrees.  I've been accused of having icewater running through my veins before, but that's just plain too cold for my taste.

Didn't pirates normally get thrown overboard in the south pacific?

I'll second both of those points.......Pirate Steve is definately an interesting fellow (although I did like the pirate costume he had on haha).....and there is no chance in he.., that I will be going back into that ice bath unless it warms up first!

I was thinking the same thing.  I love swimming - it is my strongest leg in a tri - but I am not getting back in that water for quite a while.  It is not going to warm up that much in only a few weeks.

55 is what they were reporting as the "official" temp on the evening news - don't remember the channel offhand.
