Question Re: Recording Age Group Data

When a race company reports that you came in 4/6 female or male in your age group, when you record the stats here on BT or when you tell people how you placed in your race, do you check out the other gender's stats in your age group and combine your totals or just keep the genders separate when reporting?

I've been combining genders, but just wondered what everyone else does.
