Subject: GAMES OF ACADIANA TRI THREAD
This will be my first tri and I am pumped!  Not sure what to expect as far as transitions, pacing, etc go.  My goal is to go balls out for as long as I can and then just hang on!  I am curious about race nutrition.  I think I can get by with hydrationion and a gel pack at the start of the bike and in transition before the run.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone is different. For a a sprint distance race I eat a good breakfast, usually 2 eggs and 2 slices of whole wheat toast and drink water or a sports drink on the bike and a few sips of water on the run. In my opinion gels during the race is not necessary.

And by the way good luck on your race. I must warn you, it is an addidictive sport.

It's a mini-sprint, which means it should not take you much more than an hour to finish. As such, you should have no particular nutritional needs. A good dinner the night before, a good breakfast (same thing you've been eating before hard morning workouts) and you'll be good to go. Maybe a bottle of gatorade on the bike if you get thirsty.

Have fun, it's a great for a first tri, I know because it was my first!

I've never been much of an eater before working out in the morning.  I tend to carb up the night before whole wheat pasta and chicken breast.  

I understand what you mean by addicting.
