What is your opinion on a sleeveless wetsuit and the water temps up here in WA.  Okay or bad decision?

A sleeveless is Ok during the summer months but if you want to get in the water early like late April, early May you will want a full wetsuit. Even some of the June races can be a little chilly. If you want a wetsuit for a few races in the late summer I'd go with a sleeveless. If you plan on doing any early season races or want to extend the relatively short OWS season I'd go with a full suit.

x2

More bang for your buck with a full suit, for sure!  Last year the water was so much colder than this year--I was very happy to have a full suit and booties for my June races.

I've only ever had a sleeveless, and haven't had any problems, even going on solo swims in April and May... Your call. You might consider renting both some time to make a direct comparison for yourself.

I have sleeveless and don't find it an issue. The rest of me is warm enough it seems when I swim.

I am a FIRM believer in a full wet suit in Washington!  Oh, did I mentioned I grew up in Florida?

Yeah, I've used a sleeveless for 4.5 years here in Spokane and just 2 weekends ago received my new Xterra Vortex 3 and I LOVE IT!

You know that 1st (some people call it rush, I call it CHILLINGLY COLD PAIN) you get when you start swimming with a sleeveless?  Well my 1st and 2nd swims were heavenly! No shock from the cold water, and the extra buoyancy was an added bonus.

Oh, and one more point: A few of us (4) have been doing mock tri's at Fish Lake near Cheney for the last 8 weekends and each weekend our swims were getting longer and longer.  I noticed that as we all got stronger and went longer I had to get out before everyone else even though I felt I could have gone longer.  But I had to get out because I was shaking so bad.  So the very 1st time I used my full wet suit, I went the entire 2.4 miles!  YES!  A new milestone for me in swimming!  I was pretty sure I could do it, but I was never warm enough to find out, so there you go.

That's my .02 cents.
