He's a local for me.  (South Florida) They had a nice writeup in the paper about him.  I never saw the video until today.  It amazes me that there was nobody cheering for him except one friend.  Typical South Florida.  The armpit of the USA.  God I don't know why I still live here.

I saw him....He raced with us in Key Biscayne....."Trilogy# 2" and in Tradewinds Park the "16th Annual 4th of July Triathlon"

His name is Hector Picard...

Also...He decided to race the famous "Miami Man" on November....It's amazing...!!!!

Check here more about him:

That's not true....We all were cheering him....

He has had all our support in the 2 Races that he raced....

Obviously, the human and triathlete in me cheers him on!

But dammit, the  engineer in me wonders how he shifts gears and uses the brakes on the bike!

And that Sunnofagun put his shirt on WAY faster than I did in transition.

Looks like there is a shifter on the left side of the handlebar near the modified arm rest. He still has an elbow on that arm and is most likely able to bend at the elbow and hit the shifter...didn't see the braking system on there, though it looked like a cable going to the right handlebar, but I don't know how that'd work.

Forget the bike, I'd be terrible in the swim, and yet he's still coming out of the water ahead of people.

If you see very well the video....most of the bikes were in the racks...most of the people were in the run leg...he was just leaving to start the bike course...

The video doesn't show when He was coming from his run to the Finish Line...I was there in that Race...and....It was amazing....how Everybody was cheering to him...

I almost didn't go to the pool yesterday 'cause "it was  too hot."  Now I feel like such a wuss.
After watching that athelete, I have no excuses.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi eveybody,

I'm the guy with no hands.  Thank you for all the wonderful comments.  I've been in two events so far and I am hooked.  Everyone I have met has been great.  I will be in the next Key Biscayne event.  If you see me say hi.  I'm easy to spot.
As for the bike, I modified it myself.  I rerouted the brakes to the frame and use my right knee.  It works well.  The gears I don't touch (too dangerous).  I use my left arm to steer.  I attached a plumbing fitting to the handlebars. Thanks again.

Hey it's your first post too.  The video was really awesome.  Love the creative bike mods...

Hi Hector

nice to have you at BT, not surprised you are hooked, don't know what it is about triathlon that is so addictive but there is something about this particular personal challenge that just won't let go.   You're a very inspirational individual and it's lovely to have the chance to talk with you.  Are you going to make further modifications to the bike?
