Subject: Bicyclists are the Scourge of the New Millennium

I was watching the local news this morning here in Boston and was amazed at what I heard.  The news reported on the bike sharing program that Boston is installing in town.  After the report one of the anchors mentioned that she loved the idea.  Later when the local Fluff guy, I don’t know what else to call him all he does is read the mail bag and act all douche-y, said how horrible an idea it was because bikers are “the Scourge of the New Millennium” and clog up traffic to much as it is, she defended herself saying that hopefully they will ride of the sidewalk.

 I was shocked and appalled.  Not only was I called the Scourge of the New Millennium, the anchor recommended people beak the law and ride on the sidewalks which is also MUCH more dangerous.

 I’m writing in and I think every other member of the Scourge of the New Millennium should write in also.  When morons like this make statements like this on the news it makes the bike, car relationship even harder.

A rep from Not One More spoke at our last tri club meeting. He quoted stats that suggest it's much more dangerous to ride on the sidewalk, and the absolute worst is riding the wrong way on the sidewalk.

Well, sidewalks are made for foot traffic, which is supposed to go in the opposite direction of traffic.  Bikers are supposed to ride with traffic, obviously, as we all know.  So I guess he either means riding against the sidewalk traffic or riding the wrong way for a biker.

So in essence, all sidewalks are technically one way.

Really?  So if you're walking on the sidewalk and you want to turn around and go the other direction, you're supposed to cross the street?
