Subject: Bike Fitting
I am looking for a good bike fitter in Maryland. I have read the treads, but I am wondering if any one has any recent interaction. Someone suggested Bike Doctor in Arnold. Any opinions or other suggestions?

My recommendation: Tom Rinker at The Bicycle Escape in Frederick, MD is wicked good at this. His fit calendar is full ... I have had to wait to schedule my roadie fit (last year) and an upcoming tri fit (next week).... he has done a lot of fitting. A lot. Call him and talk to him .... he can talk you through the process. During the fit, you can watch your power go up as you dial in your ride position.

Pricey... I think it is about $150. It's been a while (~one year)since I had it done. When I heard about the price first I thought "Hmmmmm I'll use the online fit calculator", but after I'd been through the nearly three hour process (got interviewed, got loosened up on the spinner, got rough fit,  saw my power meter change with geometry with left and right crank display, got dialed-in, learned a ton about bike fit, and changed sizes on bikes after twenty years (from size 60 to 58) ) I had no second thoughts or regrets or buyers remorse at all. Afterwards, Tom also set up my Tarmac to match the fit geometry. Been digging it ever since. It was the single best "upgrade" I've ever done to a bike, period. More on the process at his website http://www.thebicycleescape.com/professionalbicyclefitting.html

Thank you for posting this resource - a name that had not come up in previous threads.  Based on that webpage alone, I'm pretty sure I'll end up there for my next fitting.

I've been fit by Tom as well (road bike).  I've only done this whole process once, so don't have a lot to compare to.  But after getting fit I have had NO complaints about comfort on my bike (well, it's been hot, but that's a different story).  My fit was close when I went it, so it wasn't quite as long of a process for me (1.5 to 2 hrs).  Overall, it was a positive experience.

Dave Hewes at Bicycle Connection Express in forest hill is awesome.  BTW he doesn't charge for the fitting like many others do.  My husband bought a trek madone 4.5 from him and he was fantastic.  We asked what the fitting fee was and he laughed.  He spent considerable time with my husband and never tried to over sell anything.  Actually he would come right out and say you don't need that at this point.

Most shops will credit the fitting fee towards the price of a bike if you're buying one... whereas the stand alone service usually goes for $100-200.

That's very true but the shop in Mount Airy for some reason stated they don't only in some cases.  Not sure what those were
