I have had my Cateye Strada double wireless about 1.5 months and not ridden as much as I have should. It was professionally mounted by my LBS and it has not been sprayed in sweat (yet) nor out in the rain. It has now started reading zero cadence and MPH during my workouts at intermittent times for longer periods. The computer display module is mounted on the aerobars and puts itself into sleep mode like I am not riding. (If it helps any I am riding indoors on a trainer.)

Any ideas what could be going on? A wiggle to the display computer doesn't seem to help and the sensors seem to be clean..

I have the same problem with the same computer.  When I see that happen, usually hitting one of the buttons will help it start reading again.

My Cateye Astral has done that before.

Since both the cadence and MPH go out, the problem is probably at the computer itself (not making good contact).

Slide the computer (the read-out thingy) off, rub the metal contacts underneath with a pencil eraser. (both on the computer and the brackets). Then slide it back on. That might do the trick.

BTW, if the Strada doesn't have the metal contacts, totally ignore my post above.

Ok, here's your checklist. (I've got two Cateye V2C's, one on each of my bikes.)

1.) Make sure your sensor is lined up with the cadence sensor and mph sensor. The zip ties Cateye sends are generally poor quality and leaves a margin of error. This is the most common thing.

2.) The batteries that come in the sensor have a bad habit of being old. If NEITHER speed or cadence is working, this is most likely what it is.

3.) IF not 1. or 2. I would suggest resetting the computer and then allowing it to re-find the sensor.

I can almost guarantee it's one of those 3 things.
Cateye has excellent customer service, when my battery went bad I called and they shipped me a whole new unit. But if not, it's just a watch battery.

Let us know if any of that fixes it.

Cateye wireless computers seem to go through sensor batteries pretty quick - that would be my bet. If you have access to a multimeter, I'd check the battery voltage. If not I'd just replace it.

A voltmeter does a poor job determining whether a battery is shot.

I'd clean the contacts first, make sure pickups are secure second, and replace the battery third.

Along with all the other suggestions above...you might want to make sure the wheel magnet is positioned correctly.  Mine wigs out if the magnet is off, even just a little bit.  Make sure the magnet is passing the sensor within the correct range.  Sometimes, I have to adjust the sensor on my fork (I realize this doesn't apply to you, because the Double Wireless mounts on the rear) because those cheapo zip-ties that hold it on aren't exactly the sturdiest of things.

also check the contacts for corrosion. The same thing happened to my computer (same cateye strada). a bit of WD40 and a bit of filing/sandpaper can help a lot. I even used to put a piece of foil to make a more solid connection.

I had the same problem and it was cured by a fresh set of batteries.

This sounds like it's time to replace the battery... cheap and quick to do before trying anything else... Lots of time, the batteries are almost dead when you buy the computer anyway...

Thanks all for the suggestions. There are a lot of knowledgeable, helpful people on this site! Turns out the alignment of the sensors was off. The darn zip cords are pretty weak and allow for some significant movement. I did call the Cateye tech support line and they were very helpful and friendly as well.

Thanks everyone!
