Crankset question

Expert  803   MD |  Subject: Crankset questionI'm looking at a bike that is manufacturer spec'd with a FSA K-Force MegaExo crankset and FSA Mega EXO bottom bracket. The seller is offering it with a Truvativ Rouleur Carbon Crank as an upgrade. To the bike gurus out there - is this really a significant upgrade? If so, to what degree? I'm trying to negotiate a price and would like to better understand. Thanks in advance. |

If you were talking about jumping up to ceramic bearings and/or something in the range of the Zipp Vuma Quad, that would be a different story. Unless the "upgrade" crank is a completely different size (like standard versus compact) and you were looking for a certain gear selection I wouldn't bother. You will notice little if any difference - except if the cranks are really flexy - between them. |

Expert 803 MD | Subject: RE: Crankset question Thanks for the input. The bike is already built with the Truvativ Rouleur crankset so it's not an add-on upgrade. The seller isn't moving much on price because, as he states, he 'upgraded' the crankset and thus the bike is worth more. I called BS on him and the deal went south. Back to shopping, I guess. |
