Hello,
I joined this site a while back and am very disappointed  can't find a mentor, no support,  no one to encourage.  I live in a small town and have no one but myself to do this with.  I was looking for someone to at least talk to and encourage me, and help me find events, and so far nothing.  I want to get in shape, even though I am 60, but I can not do it alone.  I do not fully under stand the site, and can't seem to find anyone to help.  Is everything a click or can a sole individual actually do this I am beginning to wonder  If anyone can help would appreciate hearing from you.
                                                                  Sincerely

I have sent you a private message with ideas about how to make this site work for you.  Good luck.

Hello there Youngatheart.  I was alone when I started, and BT has been the greatest "tool" for my training.  At the top, there is a Forums section.  Browse around in there and start asking questions.  I've found out that 99% of my "general" questions are at least answered and people are very nice not to repost an old thread.... if they do, its usually because it has more information.  You can always PM someone (personal message) them by clicking the PM button below their post as well.  There are mentor threads that are forming for next year right now.  I'm not in one, so I don't want to tell you something that I don't know about.  Also, you might want to go to the "Introduce Yourself" thread to say hi and ask some questions like this one.  To find out about Triathlons in your area, there is a "races" tab at the top of this page where you can search for races in your area.  I find mine there as well as this link

Welcome to BT and congratulations on your new lifestyle!

Welcome. I think we all start here alone and then find a supportive community.

I've met more people through the monthly challenges than any other way. The mentor groups are a great way to gather a supportive group.

Don't forget to introduce yourself in the Florida thread; you might find someone near you who would want to train you or train with you.
