Subject: RE: Ricky Gervais Show - HBOjeng - 2010-03-03 5:50 PM To increase my post count... The first time I ever watched The Office, it was the American version and I thought it was hilarious. I saw one episode. Then I watched the British Office. Both seasons. Awesome! Then I tried to watch another episode of the American office and I didn't enjoy it at all. In my head they were mimicking the British characters and were not as funny as the original. I first saw the British version while on a work assignment in the UK back in 2001-ish (one of our project managers actually rushed his dinner to get back to his room to watch it, and told me I had to watch it - I did, and was blown away by how funny it was ). I then got both BBC seasons on DVD and when the US version was announced, I assumed they'd screw it up and it would crash and burn after one season. I'm happy to say I was wrong, and love the American version. The other night I watched one of the BBC DVD's for the first time in ages and was crying with laughter, although I had to turn it off as the humour is a little closer to the bone than the US version and my kids were around.
