be it the ill-concieved notion of biking with an ipod, the slightly more sane act of running with a zen micro, or the sheer awesomeness of weightlifting with a mid-90s CDMan strapped to your side, what do ya'll listen to?

i typically robot it with a bunch of house and electronic cross over (bloc party, gorillaz, aqualung, daft punk, kraftwerk, SST9), rock out with the likes of incubus, the killers and kick it old school with devo, yes, david bowie and finish up with a lil rare earth (a la gatorade ironman commercial).

share your musical wealth with BT!

Gotta say I love my little Shuffle. Right now it's full of Barenaked Ladies. You heard me right. Plus I always throw in some Queen for the runs, and Billy Joel is my absolute fav. Also got some Springteen and REM but it's the Ladies for me right now.

My shuffle is loaded with mostly 80's rock/pop. Upbeat stuff that helps me keep pace or even pick it up sometimes on the bike and run.

Couple of selections that I've noticed really help me out are by Cheap Trick - "The Dream Police" and (don't laugh!) "Don't Be Cruel".  (Yes an Elvis re-make).  Don't knock it till you've tried it, lol.

I just bought Green Day's American Idoit specifically to use as a running CD (plus I love 2 of their songs on it, so far).  Worked pretty good the other day.  One song was so in sync w/ my running, it felt like I had a running experience (thought it was only on a treadmill).   In the past I'll use anything w/ a decent beat-Sugar Ray, Smashmouth, Rednex.  My most bizzare CD I used for working out was Jesus Christ Superstar.  What can I say, I love musicals too.  I'd like to make an upbeat country mix next.

Hey I just hit 100 posts and Veteren status.

Elvis?  you just dated yourself, BIG TIME, you were around for the original, right?

as for music my ipod has everything but country, and i love the shuffle songs mode, that way you get everything. but old school metallica and mtv's party to go always quickens the pace a bit.

Everything from the Black Eyed Peas to Barenaked Ladies to Paul Simon and even some Bee Gees.  As a matter of fact, just about when I hit the mid point of my run, there are the Bee Gees singling "Staying Alive".  At first it was really ironic, now it is inspiring.

Inside Triathlon published a list of the best songs to run to in their 2005 Buyers Guide. I haven’t put them all together, but the list looks pretty awesome to me.

Everything.

I can go from Megadeath, Casting Crowns, Bruce, Trance, House, to good ol down south Jackyl with a touch of a fingertip.

You never know what you'll be in the mood for at a given time, so keep it loaded. More times than not Megadeath always come through .... except for those times when I want some outright trance music. I have this brazilian trance song that I downloaded that is like 28 minutes long. You can get in a good zone with that sometimes.

CCR is a never-miss.

[Note: I would not advise riding the bike with music]

WOW. Just for that list I think I'm going to have to start buying Inside Triathlon.

I don't bike, swim, or do strength training with music. But running is a religious experience for me and the music just makes it better. Currently I've got some Outkast, Offspring, Marilyn Manson, Soul Coughing, Prodigy. I love running to that superlong sample of the woman's voice in "Smack My Bitch Up". Sometimes I run with oldschool punk, like Dead Kennedys, but when I'm tired I find them a little too harsh to process...I need aggressive but melodic. Marilyn Manson's "The Reflecting God", Outkast's "B.O.B." and Creedence's "Travelin' Band" are my 3 absolutely favourite running songs.

Anyone want to start compiling these songs together?  If we all work together I et we can round them all up.  I'm kind of particular when I download music online though...has to be at least 160kbps to make it to my keeper files.  Shareaza is my current tool of choice for breaking copyright laws

i subscribe the rhapsody music service and use my audigy to pull them off a live stream in perfect condition. for $9 a month i get the biggest song database ever, along with tailored radio stations and more info on each song/band/whatever than you know what to do with. by capturing the stream like i do i never have to pay for the individual "download".

don't be jealous of my nerdhood.

The Grateful Dead. Download a show from the Archive and turn it on. May 77 stuff in heavy rotation now and you cant beat the Wall of Sound. Sometimes, you can get your run in and stretch and cooldown and the song isnt even done yet. How can you beat that?????

Either you understand this, or you just dont.
