Didn't see one. Anyone doing it?

I hear it's a really well run event?   Says avg. water temp is 79?  I'm guessing no wetsuits?  Not sure I'm confident enough to do it without a suit unfortunately...anyone have any insight or do last years race?

I did the event last year, very well run. Unfortunately my schedule this year does not make it possible to do it but one nice thing is they split the Sprint & Oly to different days. Historically it is not wetsuit legal but last year it was. You swim in Mercer County Lake, bike is around town and the run is in/out of shade in the Park. Again, a very well run event.

McMurphy, are you signed up? There is a waiting list for the Oly. How much do you swim? I am in but I am going for an x-ray tomorrow to see if I have a stress fracture in my ankle.

I'm not signed up and would only do the sprint, but not comfortable w/o a suit.

I've only done 1 tri so far and it was the long branch one last week, with a 300yrd swim. Not sure I could do 750 w/o a suit.

I swim 2-3x a week but I struggle to even get in 300yrds straight in the gym pool.

I ran the Half-marathon that Unite put on in New Brunswick and it was VERY well run and a guy at work pointed me to this tri.

The sprint distance will be my first (outdoor) tri ever. Anyone have any advice?

Yes....have fun.  The water will be bathwater warm, the transition from water to T1 will seem steep, the bike to T2 will seem long, and the run will be flat, except for the first 1/4 mile.

Great advice. Also get there early as it is a big event and will be crowded, etc. getting in and set up. Given the summer we're having the water should be incredibly warm which is a nice change of pace. If you're local enough I'd check out the course so you know where you're going. That always helps me feel more confident at a race.

I am doing the Oly this year for the first time. It looks like fun.

I did the Wyckoff sprint last week, so i need to get my distances up for this, especially swimming.

Yep. This about sums it up. Great event.

Water is going to be warm, that is for sure. We could see 80s if this weather stays like this.

I will also add that the course has a lot of energy. Lots of spectators, especially in the park. Lots of volunteers. Lots of fun. CGI puts on quite an event, and to have it in Mercer County Park is such a treat. I live almost adjacent to this park..its beautiful, clean, and well tended to. There is not a better (or bigger) event in the state.

I was on a relay last year, and watching how awesome of an event it was made me get into tris.  I'll be doing the sprint this year and I can honestly tell you cgi really knows how to run a good race.  Be prepared to tread water in the beginning for a few minutes before the wave goes off.  Other than that, have fun!

Witht he weather lately, slim chance of a wetsuit worthy race...Started practicing w/o the wetsuit in the pool and did 1650 crawl not stop in 42....not happy with the time but happy that I could do it w/o the suit.  If the Heat continues it should be pretty challenging, but we'll see...

I'll be there - this will be my first Oly! I've done the sprint a couple times and it is a great event, very well run. The bike and run are super flat.

Is the race sold out yet? It normally does, if you're going to register do it soon!

Did see that it's sold out. Went and ran the Oly 10K course Friday and now I can't wait for the race. Hopefully the heat will subside some but at least we'll be starting at 7:30. Going to hit the Oly bike course next weekend (maybe tomorrow but not looking promising for me).

I think it is sold out.  I'll be doing the sprint again this year.  Hope the weather cools off (rightttt...) so the water is not bath-like.

It's a fast course, the jog to/from bike area is looong ...  great crowd support and a really well run event.

Will do. Bagged it today as wasn't free until 3 or so and just wasn't up for the heat. Thinking next Sat or Sun. As soon as I figure it out I'll let you (and anyone else who like to join us) know.

Yes..both distances are now sold out. Later than usual for the sprint.

I am betting water temps (close to shore anyway) in the mid-80s. That lake gets hot. In a hurry. And we have had zero rain and constant, sun baked days. Ugggh. Hopefully we this heat breaks in the next two weeks!! If the race was today, it would be ugly out there.

Looks like the Ryan's Quest team is getting together to hit the bike course this Sunday at 9 so going to try and make that.

Also, Friday night swims at Peddie Lake have started back up so here's a link to the info for those looking for some OWS practice.

Info on Ryan's Quest is here: www.ryansquest.org

No reason you can't join in on the ride as it's just folks getting together to check out the course, etc. The purpose for the organized part is a lot of the folks are new or only do this race so it lets them here some advice/work out some of the nerves with other folks. Meeting up at the marina at 9:00.

I'm in deep negotiations with the wife on getting some time to make it. Fingers are crossed.

Crapola, busy sunday morning. I will be heading up there saturday morning. I like the idea of riding the course first. Hopefully i won't bail and just ride around my town.

The CGI site says average race day temp. is 75 degrees, I'm assuming with the recent weather conditions it'll probably be more like 80's? Any thoughts?
