Subject: What was your time in your first Oly?
First Oly is about 2 months away for me...so I'm in the stretch where my endurance is ready and I'm just trying to improve my speed.  Curious what others' first times were so I can set a goal to achieve.

I did my first oly in 2:53.  I was very excited with my results...it helped to have rented an absolutely awesome road bike for the event instead of the usual semi-adapted mtb.

The race was The Lake Geneva tri in WI.  Swim was good, the bike had nice rolling hills in the countryside and the run had brutal hills.

I volunteered at IMOO the next day.

Just finishing , time does not really matter . Its a pretty long distance . Course and weather can play a big role
in what a good finishing time is . 3 ish hrs is average Low 2s is wicked fast .

Its kind of like doing a first marathon . Lots of excitement at the start . Hold yourself back a little, because Those last 6 miles are really Hard !

3:++++  seriously, I had a horrendous swim (not unusual for me), was dizzy for the first few miles on the bike and an okay run.

My best oly swim is 38 something

Best oly overall time is 3:14

I'd say if you are a 5' 3", 200-ish lb. girl on an old steel bike with cruiser bars/flat pedals/3 gears, doing a very hilly course, with the run partially on trails, in 96 F weather ... then 4:00 flat would be an AWESOME finish time for a first Oly

Haven't done an Oly yet.  I've done one sprint, 3 or 4 HIMs and 2 IMs, but not an Oly.
