I might fall asleep riding Sugarloaf, if I tried, and that would be bad. This is the best support ride I have done. There is nothing like being on the country roads with about 2,000 others. |

I know many Floridians that come up from Miami-Ft Myers area and are suprised by the hilly course. Last year the last 25 of the 100 mile ride was all of the hills(Sugarloaf, Buckhill, Hospital Hill, etc. It was a great event. I am doing an IM the weekend before and will be resting the week after the event so I can do this ride. I had a great time last year. |

New user 5 ORLANDO | Subject: RE: Horrible 100 2010 : Official Thread Just did the 100 yesterday in my tri-bike... awesome event with the nicest volunteers I have ever seen. There were thousands of bikes at the start, very nice roads,, hills (yes there are hills in FL, and this are not "rolling hills"), the legendary sugarloaf mountain (14% per 0.7 miles) as an example. and a nice party after the race Definitely I will be there next year! As a side note, as long as you stay out of the aerobars while riding in group and drafting, using road cyclists codes you will be more than welcome to share the road with them at the race. The moment you touch the aerobars you will get mad faces... after all no one wants another rider with no brakes tailing you at 4" gap @ 20+ mph. Have a nice Day Axel Caravias |

Unfortunate for many of you that have not heard the news....there were a tragic accident ( there were actually 4 strucks)...yeap....a hit and run....a 84 years old women hit one of the riders and got in panic and ran away... BTW...a very well known great triathlete and runner from the area of Clermont...Harry Nickell (RIP)...He was pronounced dead when he arrived to the hospital....3 other riders were injured too and are still in the hospital.... I didn't know him in person...but...I know...He raced 1/2 Iron Miami Man in 2008...in the same AG of my Buddy...He got 3rd place... Very sad and tragic...
He will be remembered forever...and.... Our prayers are with his family...!!! |

My prayers to his family, a big loss for the tri community I heard he was heading to waterfront park for the race start. Since he lived in the vicinity he was riding his bike. Axel Caravias |
