Subject: New Training plan terminology

Hello

I just upgraded from a free membership to a silver - going from sprints to olympics and have a race in 7 weeks.  I switched to the 8 week Beginner Olympic plan and there are a lot of abbreviations and values that weren't in the basic plan

For instance the run for today says to run in HR Zone 1 or 2.  Is there a definition of the zones in relation to max HR or something.  I know that zone 1 and 2 on my Garmin are lower than what would expect the plan's zone 1 and 2 are.

The other thing is on the swim, what does MS stand for?  What is a 4X400 pull?  I understand the 4x400 but am not sure about the pull.  And a 2x100 kick.  Is this kicking only?

Thank you!

This article will help you test and set up your training zones, they are different for running and biking, this is a good guide. When you get yor heart rate results you can set them up in your training log.
For the swim MS is Main Set, this is done after a warmup set and drills, the Main Set is the work set of the workout. The 4x400 pull is pull only, I do these with paddles and pull bouy, or paddles and without pull bouy. The Idea is the strengthen your arms and shoulders during this set. The 2x100 is kick only and I will do this in a streamline kick with fins, or without fins using a kickboard. Both sets are designed to isolate.

Terms and Definitions will help you out on a lot of this stuff.

The LT Testing and HR Zone Protocol article will get you going on getting your correct HR zones for the plan.

VIDEO Drills will help with many of the swim drills, also some bike and run drills.

You can find all of these again by going to the main 'Programs' area.
