Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Boulder (formerly 5430) : Official Threadfiredawg44 - 2011-07-04 7:40 PM Hey all! I am getting stoked for Boulder 70.3! It will be my 4th HIM, and my second race of the year (finished IMSG in May)...a couple quick questions - does anyone know what the water temps will be like? I am thinking mid-high 60's...and, I heard the run is flat, but how about the bike? Total climbing, any steep grades, etc? Thanks for any info, and see you out there in 5 weeks! If memory serves, I think it's at least high sixties, quite possibly low 70s. I've done it 4 or 5 years and it's always been wetsuit legal, but never been cold. Oh, and I wear a full suit, no overheating either. That sounds kinda vague, but the water temp always been *just fine*, never an issue. The bike starts off with a bit of a false flat into some rolling hills along Hwy 36. Once we turn off 36, it's slightly downhill & fast, then a couple more little bitty rollers and then repeat. I don't know the total elevation gain/loss, but it's a fast course with no significant climbs. The run is flat, hot and exposed. It's largely on dirt/gravel, so it can get dusty & hot fast. CodRed - you'll be able to take your transition pack and leave it at the bike rack. |
