Welland 1/2 registration....why doesn't it work?

No - I don't think registration opens until late-winter/early-spring.  I'd like to enter as well.

I think last year's registration opened in January or February. The Welland 1/2Iron won't sell out that fast.  I'm looking forward to that race as well.

It's says on their Facebook page that registration for their events opens in couple weeks.

I believe it is gaining popularity so I would just get your spot once it opens.

Are you doing Steelhead again?  I just signed up for that one too.

Nope - did it two years in a row.  It's an excellent race!! I love the course - the swim is excellent!!! Point to point with the current.  Location is beautiful - the dunes are gorgeous and the beach is wonderful for spectators to spend the day.  The bike course is a little rolling - but nothing too tough.  The looped run course means they can see you a lot on the run which is AWESOME!

After last year's race I thought I needed a new venue.  I had originally thought I'd do Welland but I decided this weekend that I'm going to really "race" the sprint distance this year.  There is also a run series in the area that runs races with points..... So that's my plan.  1/2 Iron volume for bike/swim with a focus on short distance running/speed.

I did this race last year, my first tri.  I really enjoyed it.  I was looking forward to going back this year, but my wife decided that week would be a good one to deliver our first baby. 

I am hoping to do Steelhead though.   But I want to wait a little longer to register, does it sell out?  If so does anyone know about how long I have to decide?

In the two years I've done it - it's never sold out.  You have lots of time to decide.  No worries! Congrats!!!!
