MRDAVID -
I twanged my peroneal on Jan 25, and stayed off the run until Feb 11. This was a first date with me and either of the peroneals, so I didn't know quite what to expect. I saw my sports doc 13 days post-twang, and he thought it was about ready for running okay. I wited a few days, and ran 4.7km on the 11th, 6.2km on the 14th, 6.7km on the 18th, and 7.3km yesterday (21st ). I'm pretty pleased with that progression, and will aim for 7.5-8km tomorrow.
I felt it almost constantly for 2-3 weeks, and over time it has become the dullest of distant aches at worst; yesterday's run saw it at about 97% fine.
Unlike Achilles and plantar fasciitis, peroneal problems are not potential deal-breakers. That said, if you can stretch out your time away from running a little longer than scheduled/planned, that would probably be best. I'm sorry you've missed the 2-27 marathon..........but you should be able to be in great shape for Mooseman!
(And in the category of Misery Loves Company, I've lost two marathons to injuries in the final two weeks out from them. It sure sucks, but better it happen then than at mile 12 or so of the marathon itself! )
