Don't be terrified, it is a good race. The swim is short and well protected. The bike seems long but is a nice course. The run is fairly flat also. Just have fun and enjoy the experience of your first outdoor triathlon. |

I'm looking at working at IM pacing so I'll be happier with a little slower time than I think I am capable of. I'll be upset if I go any faster than about 2:48 on the bike because that will mean I pushed harder than I wanted to. Unless we continue to have heat and humidity through the race I would say I should be around 5:30-5:45. Given the same conditions as HOLT and you could tack another hour on. Bryan. | Regular 109 Chisago City | Subject: RE: Chisago Lakes Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread The roads for the bike course are in great shape. Very smooth and only a handful of rough patches. The rough section of the road is near the beginning of the course HWY 77 up to 14 is the only section that is bad and it is not really that bad. Overall it is a very flat course with only one hill coming about 1/2 way in the race. I've ridden the course a few times and everyone I ride it with loves the condition. I have the feeling that it will be a fast course. I wish I was racing this weekend, but a back injury has me sidelined for the foreseeable future. |

Knee surgery last November has limited my running and I'm only doing short course races ths year. Long bike for a sprint which is good for me. |

The course has small rollers with many flat areas. One noticeable hill after you turn off 72 onto 11. Surface is really nice except one short stretch in beginning just before you turn on 14. If weather cooperates, I can see a fast bike. |

Once I warmed up, I was fine, which leads me to believe it wasn't an issue of hydration or nutrition. It was a great race though. Good luck with AZ. By the way, Chisago Lake is like a bathtub right now. |

Midwest said that for sure they can be used. I saw your comment on how hot the water is. Its not over USAT limit for absolutely no use for safety is it? |

I'm hoping that with the wind, it'll stir up some of the deeper water and we'll get a wetsuit legal race. By feel, it felt very warm. I didn't get the normal "shock below the belt" as I slowly walked in, if you know what I mean. But, they might find a nice cool pocket. For those who are racing the long course, I hope it's not too hot. |
