Elite Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think I'm going to finally have to cave and buy one of these. Not now...but soon. Which means I'll have to go to a lot of trouble to get songs on it (all my computers run Linux only). Oh well. It is so worth it. Damn the Apple people, they knew they'd get my money somehow. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've been bugging Miko to buy one in the Gear forum just because if I can't buy one myself the absolute least I should do is make someone else buy one or I'll explode. Soooooo cute. ![]() The WSJ can't say enough good stuff about it. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() If you are in to technology at all, Motorola and Cingular just came out with the Motorola E1 ROKR-iTunes phone. Pretty darn cool! The phone was just released yesterday... Taken from Phonescoop.com: Apple today launched the first phone that will sync with their iTunes software. The Motorola ROKR E1 is almost exactly the model expected after months of leaks and rumors. It is based on Motorola's E398 phone and shares the same hardware features: a VGA camera with flash, tri-band GSM/GPRS, 176 x 220 display and microSD (TransFlash) memory card slot. It also has stereo speakers, a stereo headset jack, and a lighted bezel the syncs to ringtones. The difference is that the ROKR syncs to iTunes, like any other iPod, via a USB cable. It can play tracks from the iTunes Music Store and can be filled with iTunes Autofill. Most carriers, including Cingular, will ship the phone with a 512 MB memory card included. Although a card of that size can hold up to 120 songs at low quality, the iTunes phone sofware is limited to 100 songs. Like the Sony Ericsson Walkman phone, the ROKR will feature an airplane mode to listen to music with the phone off. The ROKR will be available exclusively on Cingular in the US, and should be in their stores this weekend. I work for a Cingular exclusive retailer, and we received our shipment today! Let me know if you have any questions. I am not that technologically savvy since I am in operations vs. sales, but I can get you any info for questions you may have! Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() yeah i got bombarded with the "I wants" from the wife last night... looks like i may have to splurge for 2 since we have different music tastes... i already have a 20gb but it is too heavy for running(it pretty much replaced my cd book in my car)... bought a shuffle but can't see what song i am listening too... so this looks like the best of both worlds... |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() macfights, I don't know if you have noticed this already. Each ipod can dock with only 1 computer. i.e. if you have 4 ipods (say, for 4 kids) and 1 computer, itune would only work with 1 ipod, even though you can have multiple log-ins on your computer. I guess it serves as a way to prevent mass distribution of downloads. However, if you have 1 ipod and 1 shuffle, you can dock both on 1 computer. I wonder if itune 5.0 has eliminated such problem. |

Queen BTich ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My friends and I trade iPods and each get songs from each others computers. There is a function in your iTunes that you can click to disable the blocking feature. I haven't had a problem sharing, are you talking about the new nano? Edited by TriComet 2005-09-09 7:53 AM |

That is only the case if you want it to auto-update your iPod. If you are willing to manually transfer over the files, you can connect as many iPods as you want. To fix it, open iTunes and then go into the preferences. Under the iPod section, select the option to manually transfer songs and playlists. I've been able to connect three different iPods to my computer this way. |

Unless someone wants my Mini... classic!! and my history is much the same... except i still have the big iPod - it's hooked into the stereo and acts like a permanent mega-jukebox. current chances I get a nano this weekend on impulse alone? 52.1% and rising... Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don't get the iPod fad. I bought a Shuffle for my wife because she was fascinated with it. I put a half-dozen or so of her favorite songs on it. I showed her how to add more. She has not picked it up since then. I have no interest in it either. I guess I don't like background music. Can someone explain why they like their iPod? TW |

Can someone explain why they like their iPod? TW I'd be lost without my ipod. I can see where the shuffle would suck because you have no control over what's going to play next. I listen to my 40G iPod on shuffle a lot, but I love being able to make playlists and control what I want to hear when I hear it. I use it all the time....at the gym, driving, at my desk at work, running, it's always with me. I've got 3,000 songs on it and it's still only like 1/4 full!!! Greatest thing ever. |

Its like my cell phone, I take it everywhere. In my car, at work right now, gym, running-you name it. Different playlists for different moods, I have 2 different workout playlists, a marathon mix, classics, downtime, I'm getting excited just thinking about it. I might just go and make a new playlist! Its so easy! I honestly think I would sell my mini and get the nano this weekend, but I need to buy a new camera. Sigh. The Nano would be much more fun, camera first..nano...camera...nano...CAMERA. Gotta get a camera. Stay away from Apple. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have a 15GB that I bought used. I use it on my daily commute to listen to audio books. I also use it any time I'm in the car for longer than 20 minutes. I almost never notice I do use it occasionally to listen to music, but probably 95% of the time, it's to listen to books I just don't have time to read. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() rennick, I am addicted to audiobooks too-- in the car, at the gym, while folding laundry, vaccuming, cooking.... I get a lot at the public library which I burn and upload, but I also joined audible.com, and at the time, they were offering 100 dollar credit at smalldog.com to buy an ipod! I have seen audiobooks at apple store, but it's SUCH a pain to browse there... where do you get your books? Would you ever want to trade? |
