Swim
Comments: I went into this knowing I was under-trained in the swim. With all things considered (mainly my lack of time in the water) I thought I did a pretty good job. Probably the most important thing for me was that I felt great! I didn't panic and I actually had a lot of fun. This was a MUCH better experience than my last in the open water and I am looking forward to getting better. What would you do differently?: SWIM MORE. Seriously, my swim is really dragging me down. If I invest a little time I think I can make some serious improvements. Transition 1
Comments: Ehhhh, this transition was alright but it could have been better. The bike coral was HUGE 2000 women...so kind of my worst nightmare haha. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions Bike
Comments: Biked along Lake WA then across the I90 bridge and back. There seemed to be a head wind both ways. How is this possible? I don't know. It was a gorgeous course though. I had a lot of fun. Going through the I90 tunnel with a bunch of women was crazy! They all seemed to see a tunnel as a great opportunity to test out the science of echos. What would you do differently?: I just need more T.I.T.S Transition 2
Comments: Oh dear Lord! I don't know how I was faster in this transition than the other but WOW. I got lost. I felt like a little kid in a department store looking for my mom. Only this time there was no sales associate to call for her over the intercom...I just stood there. Finally I composed myself turned around and started over. Eventually I found my stuff and off I went. I tripel knotted my shoe laces (I still haven't found some yankz that fit my shoes) and they stayed tied the entire time. Successsss!!! What would you do differently?: Not get lost? Run
Comments: Run felt good. There was MONSTER hill near the finish that wiped a ton of people out. I was thankful that I have been doing some hill repeats. I could tell my legs weren't as fresh from the Marathon training I have started but I love to run and this course was beautiful. I saw my cousin about halfway through on the "out and back" portion. I got to get a little high five in and give her some encouraging words. What would you do differently?: Ehhh...nothing. I mean, I can't really change the fact that I am training for a marathon... Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Marathon training with no taper and not focusing enough of higher intensity biking and not swimming enough. I know this leaves a lot of room for improvement. Event comments: This race was SO much fun. I was skeptical but very very pleasantly surprised. Last updated: 2011-03-23 12:00 AM

Oh wow. I don't even know where to start. I was a total mess. I somehow lost my race belt, swim cap and my arm warmers. I just attempted to pack too much into my weekend. I didn't notice I was missing all of this stuff until the night before. I ended up rigging my fanny pack (yes, like the 1990s) into a race belt, had to get a new swim cap the morning of the race and went without the arm warmers. I will say, the fanny pack worked great! I even stashed some gels in it.
Picking up a new swim cap, setting up my transition and attempting to memorize where everything was.
