It changes from day to day. It may be a Claim Jumper's seven layer chocolate cake yesterday, a Johnnie's pastrami today, a Tommy's chiliburger tomorrow. . Every dish is good by itself, and even better when combined. It challenges the mind to figure out why it can look so different going in, and so alike coming out. If that doesn't make you scratch your head, then nothing will. It is for these reasons, and many not yet disclosed that I like food.

Holy freaking crap. Claim Jumpers. I haven't thought of that absolute spooge hole of paradise for overeaters annonymous in probably 5 years. Seriously...who the f%$k needs an 11 pound entree?

Yeah I'll tell ya who doesn't...all of the 300+ pounders that strap on the feed bag there.

That's comedy right there. You made me go look it up because I've never heard of the place (apparently because I've never lived far enough West). Now I'm curious, and they're opening a couple around Chicago this year and next, I guess I might have to road trip out there... if for no other reason than to see the charmingly obese patrons that Jim refers to.

Explain what? Claim Jumpers? It's this 1800s mining town-themed chain of restaurants in SoCal that is notorious for it's absolutely freaking enormous serving sizes. LIke an entree literally weighs 11 pounds. Order a slice of cake and you get, literally, a quarter of an entire cake.

I was taken there when I interviewed for a job in Pasadena and thought it seemed like Disney (or probably more appropriate, Vegas) for the overeaters annonymous crowd. I swear they have defibrillators at every table.

Oh, and agreed on the foodie. Last night it was risotto with chicken and zucchini and a 3 glasses of Gigondas.

See quote below.

About time you changed your quote!!!! That is very fitting....again, I'm going to throw a "dark side" party. It will be at Welshys house-he's the host. Now...just have to get Janelle to loosen up...

We can serve burritos and other assorted dark foods--chocolate, chili, etc.

Welshy lives too far away. Most of the darksiders are closer to you. And besides, there's no Taco Mac in SA, so where will we get the Three Mile Island wings?

Well, we can either fly them in (like I've done with Freebirds to Atlanta) or find a place in SA with wings....

Yes, most of the darksiders are closer to me, however, Welshy is our ringleader. Maybe he will come to us?

Yay, a food thread! It's not just a regular 7 layer chocolate cake, it's Claim Jumper's MOTHERLOAD chocolate cake. I ordered it once and shared it with 5 adults. IMHO, I favor Cheesecake Factory's chocolate mousse cake. A little lighter yet and goes well with the whipped cream. Hmm...

OK, I have to go back to my steamed veggies and skinless boneless chicken breast now. Boo.

Too much worky worky still. That's 3 glasses I could use right about now I think the only thing I like more than food is wine with my food. Nectar of the gods.

Agreed. We've got a new wine store (I forget the name) and they have a wide selection of French wines. I'm expanding my wine horizons. The Gigondas was excellent. I'd better finish off the bottle tonight; don't want it to go off.

We get our wines from Costco as they have a pretty big selection. I notice Costco is carrying more Aussie and Chilean wines. We'll also go to the local wineries (we're about two hours from Santa Barbara) and get them direct. I could totally move to Santa Barbara, but then I'd be a big LUSH!

mmm, vino

Mondovino, a documentary about the wine industry. It'll make you an even bigger wino... er I mean wine enthusiast.

I'm off the Australian wines. xBF is Aussie and for 3 years all we could drink was Australian wines; he was biased against the French (national penis envy) so god forbid we drank French wines. Hello!!!! We have excellent Californian wines here! Your in a foreign country - try the local goods!

No, I'm not bitter.

What the hell would the French know about wine? They've only been making it for 2000 years! Of course if he was buying...
