Total Time = 1h 23m 3s
Overall Rank = 106/227
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 10/21
Pre-race routine:

Find a place to set up my stuff and marvel that I didn't forget any of it.
Event warmup:

None, really.
Swim
  • 08m 44s
  • 366 meters
  • 02m 23s / 100 meters
Comments:

Overall pretty good. Adrenaline was pumping at go so my pace was off at start. Got my rhythym back after 2nd lap for a strong finish.
What would you do differently?:

Take it easier on first few laps and build to a faster finish.
Transition 1
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

I sat down to put my shoes on which was a mistake because it felt good to sit. I also forgot to put my computer on my bike before hand so I rode without it.
What would you do differently?:

Remember to set up computer and stand to put on shoes.
Bike
  • 48m 21s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 15.51 mile/hr
Comments:

The course must have been a little longer than 12.5 because everyone's pace was about a mph faster. I did the math and estimated that the course was closer to 13.15 miles. Official race results read my pace to be 16.4 mph.
What would you do differently?:

Take hills better.
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Again I sat down to change shoes. I also forgot to take off my gloves so I had to stowe them in my gel pocket on the suit for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Stand to change shoes and remember to remove gloves.
Run
  • 24m 19s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

The run is were I had my best rankings and it's my least favorite to train for and race...go figure. Calves hurt more than theighs this go so that was different. I think the run must have been shorter than 3.1 because the times were off here as well. 8:07 min/m.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to enjoy the run more. It is the LAST leg of the race after all.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk it off, walk it off. Got nauscious just after crossing the finish, but was okay after some water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Muscle fatigue more than endurance.

Event comments:

Really the only thing that irked me about this race was the packet pick-up situation. That's a long way to drive the day before the race if you don't live near Flower Mound. I almost didn't make it between 1-6 pm and I wouldn't have been able to race. I hope no one didn't get to race because of that.

Congrats, Chris!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has gotten out of T2 only to look down and say, "Hey, I've still got gloves on!"
