Subject: Definition: Wahoo

Wahoo , in my mind and how I use(d) the word, is an indefinable spirit with verve, luck, energy, balls, appeal, sexuality, abandon and fun.

In discussing my Wahoo, some rather dirty-minded folks on the site (Jim), started referring to my Wahoo and its scaly, sharp-toothed stink. Of course I took offense (my Wahoo does not have teeth, in EITHER definition). Anyway, Jim then produced a picture of a Wahoo (fish). So some started talking about me and my Wahoo.

And misscullen, as you are the self-appointed time keeper for the longevity of posting topics, perhaps you could whip up some rules for the rest of us so we can all make sure that we meet your criteria for exceptable duration on our threads.... You can list items that are running out of time and banned terms you don't like: chipotle, burritos, wahoo, tire changing, etc..., so we can all accomodate your tastes.

I have to say I'm getting a little tired of folks crying about the topics and duration of certain topics. Why is it that so many in todays world feel the need to regulate and police everyone else. Relax. Get over yourselves and let me post what I damn well please.

Amen, and thank you for posting this Welshy.  Part of what makes life fun is being able to just kick back and enjoy yourself, and not always take things so seriously. MCOJ is a place where we can do just that.  For the most part, we all keep the posts clean, except for some innuendo, and in my opinion, innuendo is fun, light-hearted, and full of, well.....wahoo (as you defined it).

I, for one, am a fan of what you define wahoo to be.  And I like most everyone here, the fun they have on the boards, and the friendships I have made here.  A sense of humor is a great thing, and it should be used often...smiling is contageous, and helps us get through the down/boring days.

Heck, I've never even been to a Chipotle, but I can't wait to try.  And I've never met Haley, but I have respect for her as an athlete, a person, and a fellow Aggie.  I don't know you, Welshy, but I love your humor and the fact that you add life to the boards.  Jim, Scott, and Janelle, you guys make things fun around here, and you are never hesitant to add encouragement and support to those who need it....I could go on and on, but I guess I picked you guys to mention because you are the most prominent "Wahoo users" here on this particular board, and I think you're a classy bunch of fun-loving triathletes.

For those who don't like a certain topic...why not just move on and don't bother reading it, instead of throwing cold water on someone else's fun/humor?

Off my soap box now...thanks again, Welshy.

I see where I went wrong. All this time I've been reading it as "WAH-hoo" instead of "wa-HOO!"

Glad you could clear it up.

I totally missed how this one ever got started - so thanks for the definition.

Let me just jump to the defense of Misscullen who was so nice to me last week, giving me my first "me" thread and who has consistently proven herself to be an all around swell person. Just because somebody says something is getting old, it doesn't mean that they are policing anybody, rather they are just participating in the discussion in the way they see fit. They're all just opinions and posts without any obligation on the part of anybody to endow them with credence.

So, if you want to post about wahoo or tire changing, fine. If I want to say I'm tired of it, fine too.

For the sake of the harmony of the board, I would suggest ignoring posts that one find annoying / boring / offensive, but I'll not go further than to simply suggest it!

Opus/Miscullen, and tmwelshy both have a valid point.

Welshy & Company are 90% enjoyable and make me chuckle. And, by the way, are kick-a## triathletes that I gleen help and motivation from (did anyone see Jim's quoted 1000 yd. swim TT time?). The other 10%...when the inside jokes start flying around...I ignore because I'm a nobody on these boards. Very easy to do.

However, Miscullen, being a respected long-standing member, has a right to make a comment. Her comment can be taken, or ignored, just as all others.

I disagree with you on that one...

One time, someone was giving me a compliment about my dad. They said, "He's really quiet and doesn't talk that much, but when he does talk, he's worth listening to."

I think you fall into that category. Maybe you don't have 1,000 posts, but when you post, you're worth paying attention to.

I do not hold any ill feelings towards misscullen, and she doens't need defending as I am not attacking... She made her point and I made mine - I don't think there were any hard feeling any way.

...but then again, it's Tuesday already and I haven't had anyone threaten to kill me or cut off my Wahoo, so I may be due....

Which poses the question, if one were to cut off your Wahoo, would that in itself kill you?

I was just doing a little word association. You said "wahoo," I thought "fish." What's dirty about that?

It was others that associated wahoo with something in your pants.

I, as always, reamin fresh and clean.
